1. New analyses of double-bang events in the atmosphere
We use CORSIKA+Herwig simulation code to produce ultra-high energy neutrino interactions in the atmosphere. Our aim is to reproduce extensive air showers originated by extragalactic tau-neutrinos. For charged current tau-neutrino interactions in the atmosphere, beside the air shower originated from the neutrino interaction, it is expected that a tau is creat

2. Integral energy spectra of hadrons induced by one-single nucleon by the method of characteristics
Hadron energy spectra induced by one-single nucleon are obtained solving diffusion equations by the method of characteristics. Our solutions are a generalization of earlier papers that allow us to calculate hadron fluxes including the energy dependence of the interaction lengths and inelasticities. A comparison with the integral hadron spectra of the so-call

This thesis is a continuation of previous studies in inelasticity in which the analysis of viscoelastic problems is done using the Boundary Element Method (BEM) with the Dual Reciprocity Method (DRM). Here, BEM is applied to the analysis of plane plasticity problems considering perfectly plastic materials and, taking advantage of the modular nature of the co

5. O ESTADO ESTACIONÁRIO DO GÁS GRANULAR / THE STATIONARY STATE OF A GRANULAR GAS

6. A CELL DYNAMICAL MODEL APPLIED TO GRANULAR SYSTEMS / UM MODELO DE CÉLULAS DINÂMICAS APLICADO A SISTEMAS GRANULARES
In this work we study the dynamic behavior of a granular gas at low density from the hydrodynamic point of view. We also perform a linear instability analysis of the Navier- Stockes for such systems. Finally we construct a cell dynamic systems model to simulate computationally these systems and apply it for a granular gas in order to understand a little more

7. UNIFORMLY PROBABLE DESIGN RESPONSE SPECTRUM FOR INELASTIC SECONDARY SYSTEMS / ESPECTRO DE RESPOSTA DE PROJETO UNIFORMEMENTE PROVÁVEL PARA SISTEMAS SECUNDÁRIOS INELÁSTICOS
The authors concern includes two main points in the subject of design response spectra generation for secondary systems in nuclear power plant structures: the consideration of inelastic behavior in the secondary systems materials and the production of uniformly probable design response spectra. One works with a previously developed secondary system model att

: In this work, utilizing numeric process, are presented analyses of plane steel frames, deformables by flexion and axial force. In this analyses, are considered the effects of the structure geometric nonlinearity, of the material physical nonlinearity associated to the behaviour of semi-rigid connections. Are presented the models to the consideration of the

Solutions of the one-dimensional diffusion equation for the hadronic cascade induced by one single nucleon in the atmosphere are obtained, assuming constant nucleonic and pionic interaction mean-free-paths. By mean of these solutions, it is possible to describe analytically cosmic- ray events detected in emulsion chambers, having total visible hadronic energ

10. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE THEORY OF INELASTIC RODS / UMA CONTRIBUIÇÃO À TEORIA DE ESTRUTURAS UNIDIMENSIONAIS INELÁSTICAS
A survey of rod¿s models which are not based in the three-dimensional theory is presented. One of the models is picked out and discussed in details (kinematics, efforts and balance laws). An elasto-plastic constitutive model is considered. This model takes into account large deformations and the extensibility of the tods. A series of numerical simulations o

11. Toward an analogue of alcoholism in mice: criteria for recognition of pharmacologically motivated drinking.
Two criteria of alcoholic drinking behavior--inelasticity of demand and dissociation of intake from normal eating and drinking--are illustrated by study of alcohol-preferring C57BL/6J mice. Although these mice drink enough to become intoxicated for brief periods each night, they do not meet the more rigorous criteria for pharmacologically motivated drinking.
