13. Influências do ângulo de corte e da anisotropia nas propriedades magnéticas dos aços elétricos o efeito textura / Influences of cut angle and anisotropy in the magnetic properties of electric steel - the texture effect
The present thesis aims firstly to argue theoretically, of what occurs in carbon steel and silicon steel plates for electric ends, when used in transformers, electric motors and generators, and other electromagnetic devices. Secondly, experimental data and results are used to justify the "new" concepts adopted the analyses and conclusions drawn with samples

14. Analysis of the vulnerability area and tension stability in electric systems with the insert of wind parks / Análise da área de vulnerabilidade e estabilidade de tensão em sistemas elétricos com a inserção de parques eólicos
The present dissertation evaluates the voltage sag and stability of the real electrical system with the insertion of wind farms. The voltage sags studies serve of base for determination of the vulnerability areas of the electrical system, in which, in turn, the aspects are investigated regarding the voltage instability caused by the integration of wind syste

15. Control Strategies for Wind Turbines with Induction Generators / EstratÃgias de controle de sistemas de garaÃÃo eÃlica com mÃquinas de induÃÃo
The perspectives of a great number of accesses of wind turbines to the Brazilian electrical system have stimulated studies on the controls of these generators and the impacts that they will cause in the electrical grid. This two stages work, considered the study of control techniques of induction generators with squirrel cage type or doubly fed, when set in

17. Isolation of gene fusions (soi::lacZ) inducible by oxidative stress in Escherichia coli.
Mu dX phage was used to isolate three gene fusions to the lacZ gene (soi::lacZ; soi for superoxide radical inducible) that were induced by treatment with superoxide radical anion generators such as paraquat and plumbagin. The induction of beta-galactosidase in these fusion strains with the superoxide radical generating agents required aerobic metabolism. Hyp

18. Lipid Peroxidation Is a Consequence of Elicitor Activity 1
Elicitor-active preparations from the fungal pathogen of bean Colletotrichum lindemuthianum stimulated the accumulation of products characteristic of lipid peroxidation in treated bean tissues. Bean suspension cells treated with crude and purified elicitors accumulated `lipofuscin-like pigment' (LEP) and malondialdehyde. The accumulation of LFP after about 6

19. Isolation and characterization of Escherichia coli strains containing new gene fusions (soi::lacZ) inducible by superoxide radicals.
Gene fusions in Escherichia coli that showed increased beta-galactosidase expression in response to treatment with a superoxide radical (O2-) generator, methyl viologen (MV), were obtained. These fusions were constructed by using a Mud(Ap lac) phage to insert the lactose structural genes randomly into the E. coli chromosome. Ampicillin-resistant colonies wer

20. Isolation of a novel paraquat-inducible (pqi) gene regulated by the soxRS locus in Escherichia coli.
We have isolated promoters inducible by paraquat, a superoxide radical-generating agent, from Escherichia coli, using promoter-probing plasmid pJAC4 (Y.S. Koh and J.H. Roe, Korean J. Microbiol. 31:267-273, 1993). One promoter clone pqi-5 (pqi denotes paraquat-inducible gene) was mapped at 21.8 min on the E. coli chromosome by using the Kohara phage library.

21. In vivo damage of rat lungs by oxygen metabolites.
The intrapulmonary instillation into rat lung of enzymes that generate oxygen metabolites results in acute lung injury. The injection of xanthine oxidase and xanthine produces acute lung injury that, in the presence of superoxide dismutase, but not in the presence of catalase, can be significantly diminished, suggesting that O2- has the capacity to injure th

22. Changes in the Antioxidant Systems as Part of the Signaling Pathway Responsible for the Programmed Cell Death Activated by Nitric Oxide and Reactive Oxygen Species in Tobacco Bright-Yellow 2 Cells1
Nitric oxide (NO) has been postulated to be required, together with reactive oxygen species (ROS), for the activation of the hypersensitive reaction, a defense response induced in the noncompatible plant-pathogen interaction. However, its involvement in activating programmed cell death (PCD) in plant cells has been questioned. In this paper, the involvement

23. soxR, a locus governing a superoxide response regulon in Escherichia coli K-12.
The nfo (endonuclease IV) gene of Escherichia coli is induced by superoxide generators such as paraquat (methyl viologen). An nfo'-lacZ operon fusion was used to isolate extragenic mutations affecting its expression. The mutations also affected the expression of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, Mn2(+)-superoxide dismutase (sodA), and three lacZ fusions to
