1. New strategies for planning and performance evaluation of wireless networks: case studies based on the cross-layer approach
The use of wireless local area networks, called WLANs, as well as the proliferation of the use of multimedia applications have grown rapidly in recent years. Some factors affect the quality of service (QoS) received by the user and interference is one of them. This work presents strategies for planning and performance evaluation through an empirical study of

2. Insecticide treated mosquito nets for malaria control in India-experience from a tribal area on operational feasibility and uptake
The study assessed the operational feasibility and acceptability of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) in one Primary Health Centre (PHC) in a falciparum malaria endemic district in the state of Orissa, India, where 74% of the people are tribes and DDT indoor residual spraying had been withdrawn and ITNs introduced by the National Vector Borne Disease

3. APLICAÇÃO DO MÉTODO DAS DIFERENÇAS FINITAS NO DOMÍNIO DO TEMPO NA ANÁLISE DE COBERTURA EM AMBIENTES INTERIORES / APPLICATION OF FINITE DIFFERENCE TIME DOMAIN IN THE ANALYSIS OF INDOOR COVERAGE
The growing interest in broadband wireless local networks and high trans- mission rates requires an increasingly reliable modeling of radio propagation channels, specially for indoor scenarios. The use of optical methods of elec- tromagnetic field tracking along (ray) trajectories between transmission and observation points, via high-frequency analysis of sc

4. ESTUDO DE PROPAGAÇÃO EM AMBIENTES FECHADOS PARA O PLANEJAMENTO DE WLANS / INDOOR PROPAGATION STUDIES FOR WLAN PLANNING
Recently, an explosive growth in the use of Wireless Local Area Networks - WLANs, using restricted radiation levels and operating in license exempted frequency bands, has been observed, not only for corporative domestic use but also to provide paid internet access in public environments such as airports, hotels, convention centers, university campus and even

5. Radio propagação indoor utilizando ray tracing força bruta
This work uses a ray tracing method for an indoor building coverage prediction applied to a single floor. Contributions are added to an existent model, like a statistical approach for the excess path loss calculation, and inclusion of doors. Some results are presented for different situations, showing the optimization possibility of the transmitter position
