1. Liquid-phase RTD studies in a flotation column: an analysis between tanks-in-series and axial dispersion models
Abstract The objective of the present study is to evaluate the fluid dynamics of a flotation column (2" in diameter and 6 m in height) based on gas hold-up measurements and, in particular, by applying the liquid-phase RTD (residence time distribution) technique. Additionally, a comparative study is performed between different methodologies used to determine

2. Evaluation of baroclinic effects on mean water levels in Guanabara Bay

3. Uncertainty estimation in hydrodynamic modeling using Bayesian techniques

4. EFFECT OF DISC-BLADE INTERCEPTING ANGLE ON MIXING PERFORMANCE IN A MULTIPHASE STIRRED VESSEL
Abstract The impeller geometry is a determining factor for mixing efficiency in a stirred vessel. In this study, the effect of disc-blade intercepting angle on power number, just suspended speed and mass transfer coefficient was investigated in a multiphase system under turbulent conditions. The impellers used in this study were fabricated with 3D printing.

5. Experimental bedforms by saline density currents
Abstract Bedforms are sedimentary features that can be generated on the seafloor by the interaction between density currents and mobile beds. Developing knowledge about the hydraulic and sedimentary processes involved during these events is in the interest of research groups and oil companies. Because of the magnitude of the density currents in its natural e

6. Food web and ecological models used to assess aquatic ecosystems submitted to aquaculture activities

7. IMPACT OF THE HYDRAULIC LOADING RATE ON THE HYDRODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ANAEROBIC FIXED BED REACTOR TREATING CATTLE SLAUGHTERHOUSE WASTEWATER
ABSTRACT The hydrodynamic behavior of an anaerobic fixed bed reactor (AFBR) was evaluated in the treatment of cattle slaughterhouse wastewater. The AFBR was operated at hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 14, 11 and 8 h. Stimulus-response assays were carried out with Eosin Y and the experimental data were adjusted to the single-parameter theoretical models of

8. Investigation of Wedge Water-Entry Under Symmetric Impact Loads by Experimental Tests
Abstract One of the main challenges for engineers in designing high-speed crafts is the evaluation of hydrodynamic loads during the impact of hull to wave’s surface. This paper presents an experimental investigation on the pressure distribution on three wedge-sections with 15°, 20° and 30° deadrise during water-entry. Assessment of pressure distribution

9. Verificação da solução das equações de Saint-Venant com base no método difusivo de lax para propagação de vazões em canais naturais
ABSTRACT Hydrodynamic models, based on the Saint-Venant equations, represent the transient flow in water systems, and simulate flow routing over time and space. Several numerical solutions have been applied to these expressions, but often differences are found in results among distinct procedures, considering that all numerical approaches have limitations. N

10. INFLUENCE OF THE MODEL SCALE ON HYDRODYNAMIC SCALING IN CFB BOILERS
Abstract The paper presents the results of experimental verification of the simplified set of scaling parameters for which the particle density as well as the cold model length scale may be chosen independently. The tests were carried out on two large scale 1/10 and 1/20 geometrically similar cold models of the Lagisza 966 MWth supercritical CFB boiler. The

11. Duration of Systole and Diastole for Hydrodynamic Testing of Prosthetic Heart Valves: Comparison Between ISO 5840 Standards and in vivo Studies
Abstract Objective: To complement the ISO 5840 standards concerning the duration of left ventricular systole and diastole as a function of changes in heart rates according to in vivo studies from the physiologic literature review. Methods: The systolic and diastolic durations from three in vivo studies were compared with the durations of systole proposed b

12. Development and Evaluation of Calibration Procedure for a Force-Moment Balance Using Design of Experiments
Abstract To measure the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on scaled models in water and wind tunnel tests, multi-component strain gauge force and moment balance are usually used. Their performance and accuracy largely depends on the rig and calibration method, including the load table (design matrix) and analysis of experimental data. In
