13. Unusual dual genital duct remnants in true hermaphroditism.
A case of true hermaphroditism is reported in which a 46,XY karyotype was associated with a testis and an ovotestis. The dual presence of a Fallopian tube and a vas deferens on the side of the ovotestis is documented as a previously unreported finding.

19. Simultaneous hermaphroditism and sexual selection
Theory about the evolution of sexual behavior in dioecious species is based on the general assumption that egg production is limited by a female's ability to garner resources to make eggs, not by a lack of sperm to fertilize them. Reproductive success for males is thus limited by access to females (and their eggs). I suggest that egg production by simultaneo

20. Caenorhabditis phylogeny predicts convergence of hermaphroditism and extensive intron loss
Despite the prominence of Caenorhabditis elegans as a major developmental and genetic model system, its phylogenetic relationship to its closest relatives has not been resolved. Resolution of these relationships is necessary for studying the steps that underlie life history, genomic, and morphological evolution of this important system. By using data from fi

21. fog-2 and the Evolution of Self-Fertile Hermaphroditism in Caenorhabditis
Somatic and germline sex determination pathways have diverged significantly in animals, making comparisons between taxa difficult. To overcome this difficulty, we compared the genes in the germline sex determination pathways of Caenorhabditis elegans and C. briggsae, two Caenorhabditis species with similar reproductive systems and sequenced genomes. We demon

22. Late discovery of a case of testicular feminisation.
The accidental discovery, in an inguinal hernia, of a male gonad in a 67-year-old woman is reported. The association of an unambiguous female phenotype with a purely male karyotype and a male gonad suggests the diagnosis of testicular feminisation. The differential diagnosis, particularly of testicular feminisation with true hermaphroditism, is discussed.

23. Unilateral true hermaphrodite with 46,XX/46,XY dispermic chimerism.
A 13 year old female presented with ambiguous external genitalia, right inguinal ovotestis, left ovary, apparently normal Mullerian system, and absent Wolffian system. Cultured lymphocytes showed a 46,XX/46,XY karyotype. Histopathology of the gonads confirmed true hermaphroditism. The presence of two genetically different erythrocyte populations was observed

24. Intersexes in swine: a problem in descriptive anatomy.
Accurate anatomical descriptions of ten intersex pigs were compiled through dissection and histological examination in order to identify specific groups of reproductive anomalies. Six different anatomical phenotypes were identified: four varieties of male pseudohermaphrodite, one type of female pseudohermaphrodite and one type of true hermaphrodite. The inte
