1. Is the Expression of the Components of the Carotid Matrix of Rats Influenced by Estrogen, Progestin and Tibolone?

2. Association of polymorphisms in the heparanase gene (HPSE) with hepatocellular carcinoma in Chinese populations
Abstract Heparanase activity is involved in cancer growth and development in humans and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the heparanase gene (HPSE) have been shown to be associated with tumors. In this study, we investigated whether SNPs in HPSE were a risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by undertaking a comprehensive haplotype-tagging, c

3. Expression of heparanase in basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Background: Heparanase is an enzyme that cleaves heparan sulfate chains. Oligosaccharides generated by heparanase induce tumor progression. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma comprise types of nonmelanoma skin cancer. Objectives: Evaluate the glycosaminoglycans profile and expression of heparanase in two human cell lines established

4. STUDIES OF MOLECULAR CHANGES IN INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DEGENERATION IN ANIMAL MODEL
ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the structural and molecular changes in the extracellular matrix (ECM) during the process of intervertebral disc degeneration, using animal model. Methods: Wistar rats underwent intervertebral disc degeneration through 20-gauge needle puncture, and 360° rotation applied for 30 sec, representing the degenerated group, whil

A catepsina

7. Peptídeos Potencialmente Úteis no Tratamento do Câncer de Mama e o Envolvimento de Componentes da Matriz Extracelular na Resistência ao Trastuzumab..
HER2 is a member of epidermal growth factor family of receptors that is an essential mediator of cell proliferation and differentiation. In breast cancer patients, HER2 overexpression is associated with disease aggressiveness, chemo and hormone therapy resistance and poor prognosis. Currently, a HER2 specific monoclonal antibody named trastuzumab, was develo

8. Heparanase isoform expression and extracellular matrix remodeling in intervertebral disc degenerative disease
OBJECTIVE: To determine the molecules involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and to identify and quantify heparanase isoforms present in herniated and degenerative discs. INTRODUCTION: Heparanase is an endo-beta-glucuronidase that specifically acts upon the heparan sulfate chains of proteoglycans. However, heparanase expression in degenerative intervert

9. Identification and quantification of plasma heparanase isoforms in gastrointestinal carcinoma patients.
Heparanase-1 (HPA1) is an endo-β-glucuronidase that degrades intradisaccharides glycosidic linkage between hexosamine and glucuronic acid into heparan sulfate chains, present on extracellular matrix and surface proteoglycans. HPA1 gene is located at 4q21.3 chromossome. Oligosaccharides generated by HPA1 are involved in cell proliferation, angiogenesis a

No estu

11. Cell surface expression and secretion of heparanase markedly promote tumor angiogenesis and metastasis
The present study emphasizes the importance of cell surface expression and secretion of heparanase (endo-β-d-glucuronidase) in tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. For this purpose, nonmetastatic Eb mouse lymphoma cells were transfected with the predominantly intracellular human heparanase or with a readily secreted chimeric construct composed of the human en

12. Degradation of heparan sulfate in the subendothelial extracellular matrix by a readily released heparanase from human neutrophils. Possible role in invasion through basement membranes.
Freshly isolated human neutrophils were investigated for their ability to degrade heparan sulfate proteoglycans in the subendothelial extracellular matrix (ECM) produced by cultured corneal and vascular endothelial cells. The ECM was metabolically labeled with Na2(35S)O4 and labeled degradation products were analyzed by gel filtration over Sepharose 6B. More
