13. Treatment of sugarcane bagasse for the immobilization of soybean β-glucosidase and application in soymilk isoflavones

14. Influence of preparation procedures on the phenolic content, antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of green and black teas
The influence of common tea preparation procedures (temperature, infusion time, consumption time interval and tea bag/loose-leaf) and the type of water used, on the total phenolic content (TPC), the radical scavenging activity and the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity were assessed. Higher TPC and antioxidant activity were obtained when using lower minerali

15. Endophytic Actinomycetes as Potential Producers of Hemicellulases and Related Enzymes for Plant Biomass Degradation
Abstract Tailor made enzymatic preparation must be design to hydrolyze efficiently plant biomass, once that each plant biomass possesses a distinct cell wall composition. Most of actinomycetes used for plant cell wall degradation are focused on the cellulases and xylanases production. However, a wide range of enzymes must be produced for an efficient degrada

16. Synthesis of new 2-{2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin-6-yl[(4-methylphenyl) sulfonyl]amino}-N-(un/substituted-phenyl)acetamides as α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and their in silico study
The aim of the present research work was to investigate the enzyme inhibitory potential of some new sulfonamides having benzodioxane and acetamide moieties. The synthesis was started by the reaction of N-2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]-dioxin-6-amine (1) with 4-methylbenzenesulfonyl chloride (2) in the presence of 10% aqueous Na2CO3 to yield N-(2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]-d

17. High cellulolytic activities in filamentous fungi isolated from an extreme oligotrophic subterranean environment (Catão cave) in Brazil
Abstract Abstract: Isolation and screening of new fungal strains from extreme and understudied environments, such as caves, is a promising approach to find higher yields enzyme producers. Cellulolytic fungal strains isolated from a Brazilian cave were evaluated for their enzymatic production after submerged (SmF) and solid-state fermentation (SSF). After SmF

18. Evaluation of endoglucanase and β-glucosidase production by bacteria and yeasts isolated from a eucalyptus plantation in the cerrado of Minas Gerais

19. A NOVEL Scytalidium SPECIES: UNDERSTAND THE CELLULOLYTIC SYSTEM FOR BIOMASS SACCHARIFICATION
ABSTRACT In order to overcome the bottlenecks related to lignocellulosic-derived sugars, the search for more efficient enzymatic cocktails, containing a broad-spectrum of specific activities, relies on an important feature. This paper describes new enzyme activities derived from the novel strain of the Scytalidium genus isolated from the Amazonas rainforest.

20. Enzymatically and/or thermally treated Macroalgae biomass as feedstock for fermentative H2 production
ABSTRACT Due to its high carbohydrate content, algae biomass can be employed as feedstock to produce hydrogen (H2) by fermentation. However, to make the carbohydrates entrapped within the cell wall more bioavailable, algae biomass must be treated before fermentation. We submitted Kappaphyccus alvarezzi macroalgae biomass to autoclave (at 120 °C and 1 atm fo

21. Newborn Screening for Lysosomal Storage Disorders in Belgium The Importance of Sex- and Age-Dependent Reference Ranges
Abstract Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) are a group of metabolic disorders with various clinical presentations, which complicate diagnosis. A pilot study was performed to test the appropriateness and effectiveness of the newborn screening method for Pompe disease, Fabry disease and mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) I in dried blood spots using liquid chromatog

22. Germination of Crotalaria and Lupinus (Fabaceae) seeds submitted to different pre-germination treatments and their effect on enzymatic activity during early germination

24. Genome sequence of the H2-producing Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21 isolated from a sugarcane vinasse treatment plant
Abstract We report on the nearly complete genome sequence of Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21, formerly isolated from a sugarcarne vinasse wastewater treatment plant. The resulting genome is ca. 5.9 Mbp in length and resembles the size of previously published C. beijerinckii genomes. We annotated the genome sequence and predicted a total of 5323 genes. S
