13. Chromosomal distribution of the retroelements Rex 1, Rex 3 and Rex 6 in species of the genus Harttia and Hypostomus (Siluriformes: Loricariidae)

14. De novo transcriptome analysis of Tibetan medicinal plant Dysphania schraderiana
Abstract Dysphania schraderiana is widely distributed in Lhasa (Tibet, China) and used as a traditional medicine. However, the lack of genetic information hinders the understanding of its physiological processes, such as the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Herein, we used Illumina Hiseq4000 platform to sequence the transcriptome of flower and leaf tis

15. [PROVISIONAL] Mitochondrial genomes of genus Atta (Formicidae: Myrmicinae) reveal high gene organization and giant intergenic spacers
Abstract The ants of the genus Atta are considered an important pest to agriculture in Latin América, although, Atta species are important contributors to ecosystem functions in the various habitats in which they occur. Next-generation sequencing product millions or billions of short reads, however, is necessary to applied methods for assembly of the genome

16. Comparative assessment of the replication efficiency of dengue, yellow fever, and chikungunya arboviruses in some insect and mammalian cell lines
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Insect cell cultures play an essential role in understanding arboviral replication. However, the replicative efficiency of some of these viruses such as dengue (DENV), yellow fever (YFV), and chikungunya (CHIKV) in a new cellular substrate (Lulo) and in the other two recognized cell lines has not been comparatively assessed. METHODS:

17. The complete chloroplast genome sequences of three Spondias species reveal close relationship among the species
Abstract This study reports the complete chloroplast sequences of three Spondias species. The genome sequences were obtained for Spondias tuberosa, Spondias bahienses, and Spondias mombin using the Illumina sequencing technology by a combination of de novo methods and a reference-guided assembly using Sapindus mukorossi as reference. The genomes of S. tubero

18. Draft genome of Thermomonospora sp. CIT 1 (Thermomonosporaceae) and in silico evidence of its functional role in filter cake biomass deconstruction
Abstract The filter cake from sugar cane processing is rich in organic matter and nutrients, which favors the proliferation of microorganisms with potential to deconstruct plant biomass. From the metagenomic data of this material, we assembled a draft genome that was phylogenetically related to Thermomonospora curvata DSM 43183, which shows the functional an

19. Genome sequence of the H2-producing Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21 isolated from a sugarcane vinasse treatment plant
Abstract We report on the nearly complete genome sequence of Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21, formerly isolated from a sugarcarne vinasse wastewater treatment plant. The resulting genome is ca. 5.9 Mbp in length and resembles the size of previously published C. beijerinckii genomes. We annotated the genome sequence and predicted a total of 5323 genes. S

20. Genetic variation of aggrecanase-2 (ADAMTS5) in susceptibility to osteoarthritis
Aggrecanase-2 (ADAMTS5) gene is responsible for aggrecan degradation that may contribute to cartilage destruction in a mouse osteoarthritis (OA) model. We aimed to investigate the effects of ADAMTS5 gene polymorphisms on OA risk in a Chinese population. A total of 300 OA patients and 300 controls were recruited and their genotypes for ADAMTS5 gene rs226794 a

21. Nutritional and health benefits of legumes and their distinctive genomic properties
Abstract Legumes are indispensable for human diet in respect to their valuable and nutritive bioactive molecules. Legumes and derivative foodstuffs are rich in fiber, proteins, vitamins and some valuable phytochemicals, which exhibit important biological activities. Due to their remarkable molecular content, they are receiving great attention by researchers

22. Exploring tRNA gene cluster in archaea
BACKGROUND Shared traits between prokaryotes and eukaryotes are helpful in the understanding of the tree of life evolution. In bacteria and eukaryotes, it has been shown a particular organisation of tRNA genes as clusters, but this trait has not been explored in the archaea domain. OBJECTIVE Explore the occurrence of tRNA gene clusters in archaea. METHO

24. Wavelet-domain elastic net for clustering on genomes strains
Abstract We propose to evaluate genome similarity by combining discrete non-decimated wavelet transform (NDWT) and elastic net. The wavelets represent a signal with levels of detail, that is, hidden components are detected by means of the decomposition of this signal, where each level provides a different characteristic. The main feature of the elastic net i
