1. Experimental Study on the Changing Rules of Coal Fire Indictor Gases of the Whole Combustion Phases in Confined Space
ABSTRACT When the coal mine fire occurs, it is crucial to judge the fire combustion state by analyzing indicator gases concentration and changing trends of various gas ratios in order to formulate proper rescue measures. It's an effective methodology to estimate the changes of combustion state in coal mine fire accurately by the trends analysis of indicator

2. Nanostructured Titanium Film Deposited by Pulsed Plasma Magnetron Sputtering (Pdms) on a High Voltage Ceramic Insulator for Outdoor Use
In this study, the cold plasma technique was used to produce nanometric titanium films with hydrophobic and anti-fouling properties. The films where deposited on porcelain electrical insulators surfaces to minimize the effects of leakage current. The magnetron sputtering technique was used with a target of pure titanium sheet, and argon as the ionization gas

3. Detection and on-line prediction of leak magnitude in a gas pipeline using an acoustic method and neural network data processing
Considering the importance of monitoring pipeline systems, this work presents the development of a technique to detect gas leakage in pipelines, based on an acoustic method, and on-line prediction of leak magnitude using artificial neural networks. On-line audible noises generated by leakage were obtained with a microphone installed in a 60 m long pipeline.

4. Detecção e localização de vazamentos em tubulações utilizando sistemas acústicos e redes neurais / Leak detection and location in pipelines through acoustic method and neural networks
Pipeline networks are complex systems of ducts used nowadays for gas and chemical products transporting through long distances. They frequently cross highly populated regions, water supplies or natural reserves. Even small leaks in pipelines can lead to great losses of products and serious damages to the environment before it could be detected. With the purp

5. Modelagem Matemática da produção e transporte de biogás em aterros sanitários / Mathematical modeling of production and transportation of biogas in landfills
The processes that occur within the landfill for the production of methane are the methane generation through biodegradation, transport of methane through a porous medium and sorption of methane through reactions with other compounds present in the landfill, especially oxidation. This work aims to develop a computer model to estimate the biogas production ra

6. Chemical composition and antifungal activity of Hyptis suaveolens (L.) poit leaves essential oil against Aspergillus species
This study aimed to identify the constituents of the essential oil from Hyptis suaveolens (L.) leaves using a Gas Chromatograph -Mass Spectrometer and assess its inhibitory effect on some potentially pathogenic Aspergilli (A. flavus, A. parasiticus, A. ochraceus, A. fumigatus and A. niger). Eucaliptol (47.64 %) was the most abundant component in the oil, fol

7. Evaluation of the effects of ozone therapy in the treatment of intra-abdominal infection in rats
INTRODUCTION: The antibacterial effect of ozone (O3) has been described in the extant literature, but the role of O3 therapy in the treatment of certain types of infection remains controversial. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effect of intraperitoneal (i.p.) O3 application in a cecal ligation/puncture rat model on interleukins (IL-6, IL-10) and cytokine-induced

9. Avaliação dos efeitos da ozonioterapia no tratamento da infecção intra-abdominal em ratos / Evaluation of the effects of ozone therapy in the treatment of intra-abdominal infection in rats
INTRODUCTION: Ozone (O3) is found in nature and also can be produced in the human body through activation of antibodies. Its antibacterial effect has been described in the literature, but these data are controversial regardi ng a benefic role of O3 therapy in the treatment of certain types of infection. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of intraperitoneal (

10. Fracture mechanics methods applied to medium density polyethylene designed for extrusion of pipes. / Métodos de mecânica da fratura aplicados a polietileno de média densidade destinado à extrusão de tubos.
Medium density polyethylene (MDPE) is a semicrystalline thermoplastic polymer that has been increasingly used in engineering applications, as plastic pipes for water and gas distribution systems. Under constant load, however, this material may occasionally present creep failure, by means of a mechanism of slow crack growth, leading to leakage losses in the s

11. Efeitos da inibição da protoporfirinogênio IX oxidase sobre as trocas gasosas e fluorescência da clorofila a em plantas de soja (Glycine max L. Merrill) / Effects of inhibition of protoporphyrinogen oxidase IX on gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence of soybean plants (Glycine max L. Merrill)
The photosynthetic fixation of CO2 depends on the capture of light energy by the harvest complex (chlorophyll b and carotenoids), which transfer the energy to the photosystems reaction centers (chlorophyll a). The electrons transfer chain established between the photosystems generates reducing power necessary for the CO2 fixation in the Calvin cycle. The int

In this work, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is applied in the analysis of electromagnetic field generated by instruments employed for inspection of pipelines for natural gas-transmission. Inspection instruments can use this method to evaluate anomalies as corrosion and kneading in the superficies of the pipelines. This can avoid leaking that can cause ecol
