1. How do CO2 and radon gases affect groundwater mining in the Canary Islands?
Abstract Water galleries are mines that seek to supply drinkable and irrigation water from the aquifer, in order to meet the demand for water in the Canary Islands. This sort of work entails a series of health risks in the form of gases. This document compiles three different studies on the gases that can be found in water galleries in the Canary Islands, ha

2. CHARACTERIZATION OF INJURY CAUSED BY Coptotermes testaceus IN Tectona grandis PLANTATIONS IN BRAZIL
ABSTRACT Coptotermes testaceus (Linnaeus, 1758) is the most important species of heartwood termite of adult trees in forests planted in Brazil. This study aimed to characterize the injuries promoted by the heartwood termite C. testaceus in Tectona grandis commercial stands. Tree bark with extend carton material on the outside, forming external galleries and

3. First record of the association of the weevil Loncophorus longinasus with the fruit of munguba, Pseudobombax munguba in Central Amazonia, Brazil

4. Numerical modeling for the urban drainage gallery systems design

5. First Report of Heterotermes longiceps (Blattodea: Rhinotermitidae) Termite in Teak Plantations
ABSTRACT Heterotermes longiceps termites was observed causing injuries in Tectona grandis plants in a forest plantation in Cáceres, Mato Grosso, Brazil. H. longiceps caused galleries below the bark, at the heartwood-sapwood interface, from the beginning of the root until approximately 1 m height tall and very infested plants has died. This is the first repo

6. Occurrence of Tectona grandis Stem Injury Caused by Cornitermes cumulans Termite
ABSTRACT Termites of the species Cornitermes cumulans (Kollar, 1832) were observed causing injuries in the stem of Tectona grandis in commercial forest plantations in Cáceres, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. C. cumulans forms galleries below the bark, at the heartwood/sap-wood interface of 1.8 years-old trees. This is the first occurrence of this type of injury

7. O gênero Chamaecrista (Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideae) no Parque Estadual do Rio Preto, São Gonçalo do Rio Preto, Minas Gerais, Brasil

8. Investigation on Structural, Morphological and Relaxometric Properties of Lamellar Zrp Modified with Long Chain Amine
In order to search nanofiller for controlling release of drugs lamellar α-zirconium phosphate (α-ZrP) was modified with ether-amine oligomer (E-A). Synthesis and chemical modification followed specific reaction conditions and different EA:ZrP ratios. Infrared spectra showed strong interaction between P-OH and NH2 groups. Thermogravimetric curves showed tha

9. Density, abundance and extractive potential of the mangrove crab, Ucides cordatus (Linnaeus, 1763) (Brachyura, Ocypodidae): subsidies for fishery management
ABSTRACT Ucides cordatus is a relevant fishery resource of Brazilian mangroves and requires legal normative to sustainable use based on stock assessment and management. This study evaluated some population parameters (structure, density, abundance, fishery potential and stock) of this crab species in Brazil Southeast (São Paulo, State), discussing the use o

10. A new technique in the excavation of ground-nest bee burrows (Hymenoptera: Apoidea)
ABSTRACT Bees have a diversified natural history, thus the methods applied to study such diversity are varied. When it comes to studies of nesting biology, bees which nest in pre-existing cavities have been reasonably well studied since researchers started using trap-nests. However, bees whose nests are built underground are poorly studied due to the difficu

11. High density polyethylene and zirconium phosphate nanocomposites
Abstract Nanocomposite based on high density polyethylene (HDPE) and layered zirconium phosphate organically modified with octadecylamine (ZrPOct) was obtained through melt processing. The ZrPOct was synthesized by precipitation and modified by suspension and sonication procedures. The initial and maximum degradation temperatures (Tonset and Tmax) were incre
