13. Quantitative Determination of the Biodegradable Polymer Poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) in a Recombinant Escherichia coli Strain by Use of Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy and Multivariative Statistics
Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in combination with the partial least squares (PLS) multivariative statistical technique was used for quantitative analysis of the poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) contents of bacterial cells. A total of 237 replicate spectra from 34 samples were obtained together with gas chromatography-determined reference PHB c

14. Inhibition of initial adhesion of uropathogenic Enterococcus faecalis by biosurfactants from Lactobacillus isolates.
In this study, 15 Lactobacillus isolates were found to produce biosurfactants in the mid-exponential and stationary growth phases. The stationary-phase biosurfactants from lactobacillus casei subsp. rhamnosus 36 and ATCC 7469, Lactobacillus fermentum B54, and Lactobacillus acidophilus RC14 were investigated further to determine their capacity to inhibit the
