1. COVID-19 pandemic and blood transfusion services: The impact, response and preparedness experience of a tertiary care blood center in southern Karnataka, India
Abstract Introduction With the outbreak of COVID-19 and its containment measures, blood centers faced a huge challenge in balancing blood demand and supply and devising a preparedness plan to withstand the uncertain situation. This study assesses the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on blood transfusion services and discusses the appropriate mitigation strat

2. Recent Developments on the Elucidation of Colloidal Aspects of Asphaltenes and Their Relevance to Oilfield Problems
Asphaltenes constitute the heavy petroleum fraction responsible for deposition events that may lead to reduced oil production, therefore of great interest for flow assurance. These molecules self-assemble in solutions leading to formation of aggregates that eventually grow towards precipitation and blockages in reservoirs and pipelines. Based on the Yen-Mull

3. Biologia da polinização, reprodução e genética de duas populações de Tibouchina pulchra Cogn. (Melastomataceae) em gradiente altitudinal no sudeste do Brasil / Pollination, reproductive biology and genetic of two populations of Tibouchina pulchra Cogn. (Melastomataceae) at altitudinal gradient in southeastern Brazil

4. Otimização de Metodologia por Cromatografia Líquida em Fase Reversa por Pareamento Iônico para Análise Simultânea de Paracetamol, Cloridrato de Fenilefrina e Maleato de Carbinoxamina em Formulações Farmacêuticas
An alternative methodology by ion-pair reversed phase liquid chromatography for simultaneous analysis of acetaminophen and phenylephrine hydrochloride (association 1) and acetaminophen and carbinoxamine maleate (association 2) in tablets was proposed. Mobile phase consisting of 60% methanol and 40% potassium monobasic phosphate aqueous solution (62.46 mM) ad

5. Infeasible paths in the context of data flow based testing criteria: identification, classification and prediction
Infeasible paths constitute a bottleneck for the complete automation of software testing, one of the most expensive activities of software quality assurance. Research efforts have been spent on infeasible paths, basically on three main approaches: prediction, classification and identification of infeasibility. This work reports the results of experiments on

6. Development of mechanisms to implement good manufacturing practices for dogs and cats feed production / Implementação de mecanismos para implantação da ferramenta "boas praticas de fabricação (BPF)" na produção de alimentos para cães e gatos
The pet food industry has grown over recent years and the Ministry of Agriculture Cattle Breeding and Supply published in 2003 the Normative Instruction nQ 1, to define Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for pet food manufacturers and processors. Food safety is an important aspect both for the animals and human beings. The specific legislations determined by

7. Avaliação dos instrumentos de políticas públicas na conservação integrada de florestas e águas, com estudo de caso na bacia do Corumbataí - SP / Evaluation of public policies issues for a comprehensive conservation of water and forest, with a case study at Corumbatai river basin (São Paulo, Brazil)
Forest and water keep a strong relationship in several hydrological functions. Catchments with forests have lower flow peaks, have better water quality and the forests also contribute for nutrients cycling and river protection. In addiction water provides forest vitality and contributes for its biodiversity and several environmental tasks. Water and forests

8. EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION OF MODELS FOR PREDICTING THE FORCES FOR REMOVING WAX DEPOSITS IN PIPELINES USING PIGS / AVALIAÇÃO DE MODELOS PARA A REMOÇÃO DE DEPÓSITOS DE PARAFINA EM DUTOS UTILIZANDO PIGS
Pigging is still the most widely used method to remove wax deposits in subsea pipelines. The passage of a pig is still considered a risky operation, since the pressure gradient available for driving the pig might not be sufficient to overcome the contact forces between the pig and the wall, as well as the forces required to remove the wax deposit. If this is

9. ANÁLISE DO COMPORTAMENTO DA TEMPERATURA EM SISTEMAS DE PRODUÇÃO DE PETRÓLEO: COMPARAÇÃO ENTRE COMPLETAÇÃO SECA E MOLHADA / TEMPERATURE BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS OF OIL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS: DRY AND WET COMPLETION COMPARISON
Around 50% of the Brazilian reserves of hydrocarbons are located in the continental platform in water depths with more than one thousand meters. The freezing temperatures of the sea bottom make problems related to oil production, even more critical. However, the flow assurance challenges are not the only obstacles for the oil production in ultra-deep waters.

In the present study, a system was developed for the automatized pretreatment of the inhibitor phosphinocarboxilic acid (PPCA) used during off-shore oil exploration to minimize the occurrence of inorganic scale formation. The components of the system used are: 3, 4 or 6 way solenoid valves with Teflon body, a home-made electronic circuit for activation of th

11. Coronary anastomoses over intraluminal occluders
A simplified technique with the use of intraluminal vessel occluders to prevent collateral flow of blood and cardioplegic solution during saphenous vein distal coronary artery anastomosis is presented here. Additional advantages of this technique are the stenting of vessels to facilitate vessel approximation and the assurance of anastomotic patency.

12. Modified Laminar Flow Biological Safety Cabinet
Tests are reported on a modified laminar flow biological safety cabinet in which the return air plenum that conducts air from the work area to the high efficiency particulate air filters is under negative pressure. Freon gas released inside the cabinet could not be detected outside by a freon gas detection method capable of detecting 10-6 cc/s. When T3 bacte
