13. On the Faddeev-Popov operator eigenspectrum in topological background fields
During the last years significant progress has been made in the understanding of the confinement of quarks and gluons. However, this progress has been made in two directions, which are at first sight very different. On the one hand, topological configurations seem to play an important role in the formation of the static quark-anti-quark potential. On the oth

14. Equation of state of gluon plasma and renormalization of local action
We consider a local, renormalizable, BRST-invariant action for QCD in Coulomb gauge that contains auxiliary bose and fermi ghost fields. It possess a non-perturbative vacuum that spontaneously breaks BRST-invariance. The vacuum condition leads to a gap equation that introduces a mass scale. Calculations are done to one-loop order in a perturbative expansion

15. AÇÕES AFIRMATIVAS E O ACESSO AO ENSINO SUPERIOR Estudo de caso da UFJF
Research studies on racial inequality developed in Brazil have indicated, aong other exclusion fields, the low presence of afro-descendent Brazilians in college education. Departing from this evidence, affiramtive action aiming to facilitating access of black students ("pretos" or "pardos") in higher education has been implemented in several Brazilian federa

16. A palavra-chave racismo e suas relações lexicais: uma análise crítica dos discursos sobre relações raciais brasileiras em corpus de jornal impresso
Departing form a tradition in linguistic studies in the scope of Critical Discourse Analysis, through the analysis of lexical cohesion in mediated discourse, within the CORDIALL Project, from Faculdade de Letras, UFMG, this research has approached the discourse field of racial relations in Brazil as represented in a corpus of a broadsheet newspaper. The conc

17. Variability of maize genotypes for grain-carotenoid composition aiming biofortification / Variabilidade de genótipos de milho quanto à composição de carotenóides nos grãos visando a biofortificação
Vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of blindness in the world, reaching approximately 21% of all the mal nourished children, with the largest number of affected kids in parts of Asia and Africa. Biofortification of the maize with provitamin A carotenoids, through breeding, is an alternative to diminish this deficiency, mainly in poor countries. The mai

18. Uma modelagem matemático-computacional do sistema biológico de percepção de movimento e velocidade
Everything that we see is mentally built by the human brains visual system, from the stimuli received by the retinas: the perception of color, shape, depth and motion, the objects and the complete visual scenes. Researches on artificial intelligence, especially applied to robotics, look for emulating this biological function, in order to enable artificial sy

19. DEVELOPMENT OF A METHODOLOGY FOR THE SEPARATION OF EUROPIUM AND SAMARIUM FROM A MIXTURE OF RARE EARTH OXIDES BY ELECTROREDUCTION/PRECIPITATION / "Desenvolvimento de uma metodologia para a separação de Samário e Európio a partir de mistura de óxidos de Terras Raras por redução eletroquímica/ precipitação"
The rare earths (RE) were first used in 1903, when Welsbach developed a lighter that is still used today. Nowadays, the RE are employed in many different fields, as in the production of super-alloys , as catalysts for petroleum industry, in the manufacture of non-ferrous alloys, color television tubes, x-ray screens, special glasses, ceramics, computer indus

20. Biological and mannering studies of Migdolus fryanus (Westood, 1863) (Coleoptera: vesperidade) and its interaction with entomopathogenic nematodes and other agents of mortalities / Estudos biologicos e comportamentais de Migdolus fryanus (Westwood, 1863) (Coleoptera : vesperidae) e sua interação com nematoides entomopatogenicos, e outros agentes de mortalidade
During de present study biological and morphological data of Migdolus fiyanus (Westwood, 1863) (Coleoptera: V esperidae) were obtained. Males and females after mating were collected in sugar cane field and brought to the laboratory for morphological and biological investigations. Females were individualized in plastic containers ( 20 L). The dimensions were

21. MULTI-RESOLUTION FOR VISUALIZATION OF NATURAL OIL RESERVOIRS / MULTI-RESOLUÇÃO PARA A VISUALIZAÇÃO DE RESERVATÓRIOS NATURAIS DE PETRÓLEO
Current flow-simulation meshes of natural oil reservoirs (NOR) are composed of hundreds of thousands of hexahedral cells. The visualization of the geometry of these cells superimposed with color attributes to represent properties and flow results requires the rendering of an unstructured mesh of millions of triangles. Current graphics hardware does not allow

22. The distribution of response spectra in the lateral geniculate nucleus compared with reflectance spectra of Munsell color chips
This paper compares the spectral response curves of cells in the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) with the reflectance spectra of a large sample of Munsell color chips. By examining the color chips with methods used by neural response researchers and the LGN cells with methods used by psychophysical color researchers, we obtain insights that may be useful fo

24. Visual form discrimination from color or motion cues: functional anatomy by positron emission tomography.
To explore the extent to which various cortical functional pathways are involved in processing and analyzing different types of information that yield the same perceptual entity, we mapped anatomical structures in the human brain participating in the discrimination of visual forms mediated either by motion or color cues. Changes in regional cerebral blood fl
