13. Application of Higher Order Hamiltonian Approach to the Nonlinear Vibration of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems
Abstract This paper implements the higher order Hamiltonian method to analyze an electrostatically actuated nonlinear micro beam-based micro electro mechanical oscillator. First, second and third approximate solutions are obtained, and the frequency responses of the system are compared with energy balance method solution and previously solved Variational App

14. Solving the Integrated Schedule Generation and Fleet Assignment Problem: an ACOBased Metaheuristic Approach
Abstract Traditionally, the initial steps on airline planning – Schedule Generation and Fleet Assignment problems – are solved separately. This traditional approach usually leads to suboptimal solutions, since flight profitability – the decision criteria to schedule a flight – depends on what aircraft type will be used on that flight. On the other ha

15. A Computational Modeling for Semi-Coupled Multiphase Flow in Atmospheric Icing Conditions
ABSTRACT: A two-dimensional second-order positivity-preserving finite volume upwind scheme is developed for a semi-coupled algorithm involving the air and droplet flow fields in the Eulerian frame, which shares the grid for each phase. Special emphasis is placed on the computational modeling, which is induced from a strongly-coupled algorithm that satisfies

16. BUNDLE METHODS IN THE XXIst CENTURY: A BIRD'S-EYE VIEW
Bundle methods are often the algorithms of choice for nonsmooth convex optimization, especially if accuracy in the solution and reliability are a concern. We review several algorithms based on the bundle methodology that have been developed recently and that, unlike their forerunner variants, have the ability to provide exact solutions even if most of the ti

17. Exact solution for thermo-mechanical vibration of orthotropic mono-layer graphene sheet embedded in an elastic medium
In this paper, the effect of the temperature change on the vibration frequency of mono-layer graphene sheet embedded in an elastic medium are studied. Using the nonlocal elasticity theory, the governing equations are derived for single-layered graphene sheets. Using Levy and Navier solutions, analytical frequency equations for single-layered graphene sheets

18. Buckling configurations and dynamic response of buckled Euler-Bernoulli beams with non-classical supports
Exact solutions of buckling configurations and vibration response of post-buckled configurations of beams with non-classical boundary conditions (e.g., elastically supported) are presented using the Euler-Bernoulli theory. The geometric nonlinearity arising from mid-plane stretching (i.e., the von Kármán nonlinear strain) is considered in the formulation.

19. A shell finite element formulation to analyze highly deformable rubber-like materials
Abstract: In this paper, a shell finite element formulation to analyze highly deformable shell structures composed of homogeneous rubber-like materials is presented. The element is a triangular shell of any-order with seven nodal parameters. The shell kinematics is based on geometrically exact Lagrangian description and on the Reissner-Mindlin hypothesis. Th

20. Uma generalização do modelo de spins e bóson para a transcrição de genes sob múltiplo controle / A generalization of the spin-boson model for gene transcription under multiple control

The domain of logistics is concerned with providing customers with the right product in the right place at the right time. In our modern economy, the faster pace and wider scope of logistic operations has led to complex management problems that have drawn the attention of both industry and the academic world Optimizing the number of vehicles for a determined

22. Metaheurística para o Problema de Planejamento de Redes de Transmissão de Energia Elétrica com Redimensionamento / Metaheuristics for the transmission expansion planning problem with redesign
At times, the electrical load in dierent areas varies, claiming the construction of new electric generators and the expansion of the electrical transmission network. In this dissertation we focus on the transmission expansion planning problem, assuming that new generators are built to meet the new demands. This expansion requires large investments, which nee

23. Novel equivalent function for deadzone nonlinearity: applied to analytical solution of beam vibration using He's Parameter Expanding Method
This study intends to introduce the novel and efficient exact equivalent function (EF) for well-known deadzone nonlinearity. To indicate the effectiveness of this EF, the nonlinear vibration of cantilever beam in presence of deadzone nonlinear boundary condition is studied. The powerful analytical method, called He's Parameter Expanding Method (HPEM) is used

24. Approximate expressions for the reflection coefficient of ducts terminated by circular flanges
Estimating the magnitude of the pressure reflection coefficient |R| and the end correction l at the open end of ducts is a critical procedure when designing or predicting the acoustic behavior of acoustical systems, such as exhausts, tailpipes, mufflers, loudspeaker enclosures and so on. For cylindrical ducts and plane waves, exact intricate solutions exist
