25. Profilaxia da infecção por vírus sincicial respiratório: estudo clínico prospectivo de crianças submetidas ao uso de palivizumabe. / Prophylactic treatment of infection by the sincycial respiratory virus: prospective clinical study of infants to the use of palivizumab.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the most important etiologic agent in acute lower respiratory tract infections (ALRTIs) in children under two years, with high rates of hospitalization and death in high risk children for severe RSV infection. Objective: To identify the virus present in acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) and to analyze rates of ho

26. Estudo da etiologia das principais bactérias isoladas de mastite bovina em rebanhos leiteiros de propriedades rurais de Goiás / Etiology study of the main bacteria isolated from bovine mastitis in dairy cattle farms in the state of Goias
The bovine mastitis consists of an inflammation of the mammary gland, with acute to chronic evolution, which occurs when an infectious agent attacks the mammary gland. It is characterized by physical, chemical and sensory alterations of the milk, caused by microorganisms that invade the mammary gland and cause pathological changes in the glandular tissue. Ma

27. Estudo da etiologia das principais bactérias isoladas de mastite bovina em rebanhos leiteiros de propriedades rurais de Goiás / Etiology study of the main bacteria isolated from bovine mastitis in dairy cattle farms in the state of Goias

28. Marine natural seaweed products as potential antiviral drugs against Bovine viral diarrhea virus
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an etiologic agent that causes important economic losses in the world. It is endemic in cattle herds in most parts of the world. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxic effect and antiviral properties of several marine natural products obtained from seaweeds: the indole alkaloid caulerpin (CAV, 1

29. Micro-organismos envolvidos em infecções urinárias de mulheres com idade superior a 15 anos atendidas no HC-UFG em 2009 e os perfis de suscetibilidade aos antimicrobianos / Micro-organisms involved in urinary tract infections in women aged over 15 years in HC-UFG attended in 2009 and profiles for antimicrobial susceptibility
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a very common disease and can occur at any age. The vast majority of UTIs is caused by enteric bacteria. The study aimed to identify the etiologic agents most frequently, the profile of antibiotic susceptibility and the factors possibly associated to the UTIs recurrents in women older than 15 years, cared for and / or admit

30. A 7-year survey of superficial and cutaneous mycoses in a public hospital in Natal, Northeast Brazil
In the present study, we determined the frequency of superficial and cutaneous mycoses and their etiologic agents during a 7-year period (2002-2008) in Natal, Brazil. A total of 1,717 specimens of skin, nail, and hair were collected from 1,382 patients with suspected mycoses lesions and were then subjected to direct microscopy and culture.

32. Respiratory virus infections among hospitalized patients with suspected influenza A H1N1 2009 virus during the first pandemic wave in Brazil
INTRODUCTION: During the first pandemic wave of the influenza A H1N1 2009 virus, morbidity was particularly high in Brazil. Hospitalizations resulting from severe respiratory disease due to suspected influenza-like illness created an opportunity to identify other respiratory viruses causing lower respiratory infections. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study w

33. Epidemiology of fungal infections in liver transplant recipients: a six-year study of a large Brazilian liver transplantation centre
Liver transplant seems to be an effective option to prolong survival in patients with end-stage liver disease, although it still can be followed by serious complications. Invasive fungal infections (ifi) are related to high rates of morbidity and mortality. The epidemiology of fungal infections in Brazilian liver transplant recipients is unknown. The aim of

35. The genome projects of the closely related cacao pathogens Moniliophthora roreri and Moniliophthora perniciosa.
The basidiomycetes Moniliophthora roreri and Moniliophthora perniciosa are the etiologic agents of the two most devastating diseases in cacao (Theobroma cacao ): frosty pod rot and the witches? broom, respectively. The species are very closely related and even hybrid cells have been previously obtained. In cacao, both species infect pods, causing necrosis, a
