1. COMPARISON BETWEEN EXPERIMENTAL AND SIMULATED RESULTS OF BIODIESEL PRODUCTION BY REACTIVE DISTILLATION AND ENERGETIC ASSESSMENT
ABSTRACT Biodiesel appears to be a likely substitute to conventional diesel. However, the main challenge has been the creation of a competitive advantage for the biodiesel production process in terms of innovation and efficiency. The reactive distillation technique for biodiesel production is possibly a key force to overcome this technological issue because

2. Thermal Properties of the Blends of Methyl and Ethyl Esters Prepared from Babassu and Soybean Oils
Fatty acid esters (methyl and ethyl) prepared from babassu nut oil were blended with the respective esters from soybean oil. These binary blends (babassu:soybean) were made in proportions of 10:90, 20:80, 30:70, 40:60, and 50:50 (vol%). The ester content of all the blends was higher than 96.5%, which is the minimum value required by the Brazilian National Ag

3. Determination of Alkyl Esters Content by Gas Chromatography: Validation of Method Based on Short Column and Response Factor
In this study an analytical method, based on gas chromatography with flame ionization detection, using a short column and response factor (GCSCRF), was validated for the quantification of fatty acid alkyl esters (methylic or ethylic). During the validation process, the proposed method was employed to analyze twenty samples of fatty acid methyl esters and fat

4. Biodiesel Glycerides from the Soybean Ethylic Route Incomplete Conversion on the Diesel Engines Combustion Process
An evaluation was made to determine the effect of the glycerides presence resulting from the incomplete conversion of soybean biodiesel produced via alkaline catalysis and ethylic route on engine performance, and emissions in formulations containing 10 and 20% (m/m) of biodiesel used as additives in base diesel with low sulfur content and cetane ratings of 4

5. LIQUID-LIQUID EQUILIBRIUM FOR TERNARY SYSTEMS CONTAINING ETHYLIC BIODIESEL + ANHYDROUS ETHANOL + REFINED VEGETABLE OIL (SUNFLOWER OIL, CANOLA OIL AND PALM OIL): EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND THERMODYNAMIC MODELING
Abstract Phase equilibria of the reaction components are essential data for the design and process operations of biodiesel production. Despite their importance for the production of ethylic biodiesel, the reaction mixture, reactant (oil and ethanol) and the product (fatty acid ethyl esters) up to now have received less attention than the corresponding system

6. Fast Classification of Different Oils and Routes Used in Biodiesel Production Using Mid Infrared Spectroscopy and PLS2-DA
This work aimed at employing partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS2-DA), allied to mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy as an analytical method for simultaneous classification of biodiesels from different oils (soybean and used frying oil) and routes (methylic and ethylic). The evaluation of the model was verified through values of sensitivity and speci

7. Análise exploratória aplicada a espectros de reflexão total atenuada no infravermelho com transformada de Fourier (ATR-FTIR) de blendas de biodiesel/diesel
In this study, hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA) were used to classify blends produced from diesel S500 and different kinds of biodiesel produced by the TDSP methodology. The different kinds of biodiesel studied in this work were produced from three raw materials: soybean oil, waste cooking oil and hydrogenated vegeta

8. Efeito das variáveis operacionais na transesterificação metílica e etílica do óleo de soja
In the present work was carried out experimental design for the best reaction conditions of the process of transesterification by soybean oil. There were two plans for an ethanol process route and two for the route methyl, the variables employed were: time (min), speed (RPM), alcohol: oil molar ratio, percentage of catalyst, catalyst type, temperature (0C).

11. Síntese de biodiesel etílico de girassol utilizando transesterificação alcalina seguido da adição on pot de H2SO4 / Biodiesel synthesis from sunflower oil through alkaline transesterification followed on pot addition of sulfuric acid
In this study, the on pot addition of sulfuric acid was studied in the transesterification process of sunflower oil, using ethanol and methanol, by basic catalysis (NaOH or KOH). That addition implicated in successfully separation of FAEEs from FAMEs/glycerin phases due to soap breaking. The on pot additions yield free fatty acids and salt (Na2SO4 or K2SO4).
