1. Household Infrared Technology as an Energy-Efficient Approach to Achieve C-Cπ Bond Construction Reactions
We examined the ability of short-wave infrared (IR) light in the λ1.5-3.0 μm region of the infrared emission spectrum to accomplish C-Cπ bond construction reaction between π-excessive azaheteroaromatic and different carbonyl substrates supported on a bentonitic clay catalyst in solventless condition via a three-component condensation reaction. Preliminar

2. In vitro Antioxidant and Anticholinesterase Activities of Ouratea fieldingiana (Gardner) Eng. Leaf Extract and Correlation with Its Phenolics Profile with an in silico Study in Relation to Alzheimer’s Disease
Ouratea fieldingiana is a native medicinal plant from Northeastern Brazil and many biological properties are due to the phenolic constituents. The objective of this work was performing the characterization of O. fieldingiana leaf constituents to correlate with antioxidant and anticholinesterase activities by in vitro and in silico studies and thus contribute

3. Green Synthesis of Upconverting NaYF4 and NaGdF4 Materials and Energy Levels Determination
An alternative green route using a domestic microwave oven to synthesize NaGdF4:Yb,Tm and NaYF4:Yb,Er was successfully developed. Decreasing dopants concentration increased the β-NaREF4/α-NaREF4 ratio in NaGdF4. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of NaGdF4 showed particles ranging from 500 nm to 1 μm with formation of aggregates up to 100 μm,

4. Metabolic bone disease in children and adolescent patients with ulcerative colitis
Abstract Objective: Metabolic bone disease concerns a broad spectrum of conditions related to reduced bone density. Metabolic bone disease has been linked to chronic inflammatory diseases, such as ulcerative colitis. This study examines the prevalence of metabolic bone disease in ulcerative colitis patients and explores possible clinical predictors. Method

5. Passively Q-Switched Pulses Generation from Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser Using Lutetium Oxide as Saturable Absorber
Abstract In this paper, a configuration of a passive Q-switched Erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) using a Lutetium Oxide (Lu2O3) thin film as a saturable absorber (SA) is experimentally implemented to generate high pulse energy with a high signal to noise ratio. A stable Q-switched pulse train is initiated at the input pump power of 30.442mW, and a maximum pul

6. Study of structural, optical, and morphological characteristics of manganese titanate (MnTiO3) obtained by combustion reaction using microwave energy
Abstract MnTiO3 is a semiconductor that has relevant dielectric and optical properties. For the synthesis of manganese titanate (MnTiO3) powders, the combustion method via microwave and subsequent calcination at 500, 700, and 900 °C were used. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the samples were investigated. X-ray diffraction analyzes

7. Multi-Step-Ahead Spectrum Prediction for Cognitive Radio in Fading Scenarios
Abstract This paper analyzes multi-step-ahead spectrum prediction for Cognitive Radio (CR) systems using several future states. A slot-based scenario is used, and prediction is based on the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. The aim is to determine whether multi-step-ahead spectrum prediction has gains in terms of reduced channel-switching and increased

8. Pharmacogenomic testing and antidepressant response: problems and promises
Objective: Autistic traits are associated with a burdensome clinical presentation of anorexia nervosa (AN), as is AN with concurrent depression. The aim of the present study was to explore the intertwined association between complex psychopathology combining autistic traits, subthreshold bipolarity, and mixed depression among people with AN. Method: Sixty

10. Quantitative analysis of the applicability limits of the model of a one-dimensional infinite square well
Abstract We discuss the influence of several factors on the deviations from energy spectrum of an infinite square quantum well (QW) for real microscopic systems that can be approximately modelled using particle in a box. We introduce the “blurring” potential in the form of the modified Woods-Saxon potential and solve the corresponding Schrödinger equati

12. Green synthesis and Characterization of ZnO-CoFe2O4 Semiconductor Photocatalysts Prepared Using Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) Peel Extract
In this work, the semiconductor of ZnO-CoFe2O4 composites were prepared by green synthesis approach using rambutan peel extract (Nephelium lappaceum L.) as a capping agent. X-ray diffraction patterns of composites showed the main peaks of ZnO at 2θ = 31.8°, 34.5°, and 36.2° corresponding to hexagonal wurtzite structure and weak peak at 2θ = 35.4° for c
