1. Evaluation of human enamel permeability exposed to bleaching agents
AIM: To evaluate the human enamel permeability after different external bleaching techniques. METHODS: The coronal portions of 20 maxillary human incisors were covered with an acid resistant varnish, except the labial surface, to prevent dye penetration of silver nitrate. The specimens were divided randomly into four groups (n=5) according to the bleaching t

2. Effect of adhesive system and application strategy on reduction of dentin permeability
This study evaluated the effect of adhesive systems and application strategies on dentin hydraulic conductance (HC). The buccal enamel was removed from bovine incisors to simulate laminate cavity preparations. After removing the roots and the coronal pulp, the buccal dentin was treated with EDTA solution (0.5 M) for 5 minutes, rinsed, ultrasonicated for 12 m

3. AVALIAÇÃO DA RESISTÊNCIA DE UNIÃO DE DIFERENTES SISTEMAS DE CIMENTAÇÃO ADESIVA AO ESMALTE E A DENTINA / BOND STRENGTH EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT SYSTEMS FOR ADHESIVE CEMENTATION TO ENAMEL AND DENTIN
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength to enamel and dentin of a self-adhesive resin cement applied with different cementation strategies, using a conventional resin cement as control. Material and Methods: Sixty healthy human molars were selected and allocated into 6 groups (n=10) according to cementation system and dental substr

4. Análise comparativa in vivo da detecção de lesões de cárie oclusal e proximal por meio de exame visual (ICDAS), exame radiográfico e transiluminação por fibra ótica (FOTI) / In vivo comparative analysis of aproximal and occlusal caries lesions detection using visual examination (ICDAS), radiograph examination and fiber optic transillumination (FOTI)
The aim of this in vivo study was to assess the ICDAS visual method, combined ICDAS/fiber optic transillumination and bite wing radiographs. A total of 2,279 pits and fissures in upper incisors, pre-molars and molars permanent surfaces and 272 primary molars surfaces in 72 patients (aged 8 to 18 years-old) were assessed by an trained examiner. The seven scor

5. Influence of chlorhexidine concentration on microtensile bond strength of contemporary adhesive systems
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of chlorhexidine (CHX) concentration on the microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of contemporary adhesive systems. Eighty bovine central incisors were used in this study. The facial enamel surface of the crowns was abraded with 600-grit silicon carbide paper to expose flat, mid-coronal dentin surfaces.

6. Comparative analysis of human and bovine teeth: radiographic density
Since bovine teeth have been used as substitutes for human teeth in in vitro dental studies, the aim of this study was to compare the radiographic density of bovine teeth with that of human teeth to evaluate their usability for radiographic studies. Thirty bovine and twenty human teeth were cut transversally in 1 millimeter-thick slices. The slices were X-ra

7. Influence of different formulations of bleaching agents on enamel and dentin physical and chemical properties / Influencia de diferentes formulações de agentes clareadores nas propriedades fisicas e quimicas do esmalte e dentina
Section A: Effects of bleaching agents on dental enamel Since the introduction of the nightguard vital bleaching technique using 10% carbamide peroxide (10% CP), reports have evaluated the effects of bleaching agents on human enamel. Evidences show that CP is able to alter the composition and morphology of enamel substrate. In order to reduce the adverse eff

8. Efeito de agentes clareadores internos nos procedimentos restauradores adesivos em diferentes intervalos de tempo apos o clareamento
Discoloration of a pulpless tooth is an esthetic problem which requires treatment. The nonvital bleaching is considered a conservative, safe and low cost alternative to reestablish the original tooth color compared to invasive treatments. The use of bleaching agents could influence the restorative bonding procedures. However, the role of the elapsed time fol
