1. EFFECT OF CYCLOPENTANE HYDRATES ON THE STABILITY OF DODAC AND AOT STRUCTURES
Abstract Hydrates are crystalline structures formed by water and substances with low molar mass molecules. Hydrate formation can occur during oil production when oil, gas and water flow through the same lines in conditions of high pressure and low temperatures. The deposition of hydrate crystals in production lines can severely jeopardize the safety of oper

2. Analysis of Composite Membranes in the Separation of Emulsions Sunflower oil/water
Oil is a major pollutant of water resources, affects aquatic life, causing environmental degradation. Currently there is an increase in studies of membrane applied to separation of oil-water. Among these membranes, there are composite membranes, which show as main characteristic an association of organic and inorganic membrane properties. In a tangential flo

3. Effects of direct and alternating current on the treatment of oily water in an electroflocculation process
In the direct current mode (DC), widely used in electroflocculation (EC), the formation of an impermeable oxide layer on the cathode causes the declining of the efficiency of this process. This disadvantage has been reduced by adopting alternating current (AC). In this study, the effects of AC and DC on operational parameters such as the removal of oils and

4. Editorial
Phase transition and viscosity behavior of emulsified systems were studied after modifying their physicochemical formulation. Effects of concentration and nature of salts and n-alcohols, and water/oil relation on the rheological properties of emulsions were also studied. Pre-equilibrated systems were emulsified according to an agitation procedure, and the vi

5. Extensional viscosity measurements of concentrated emulsions with the use of the opposed nozzles device
This paper presents results of experimental studies on the apparent extensional viscosity of emulsions. The apparent extensional viscosity measurements were carried out with the use of a customized rheometer which utilizes stagnation flow between two opposing nozzles. Apparent extensional viscosity was determined for emulsions containing 60, 70 and 74 vol.%

6. Hydrodynamics and oxygen mass transfer characteristics of petroleum based micro-emulsions in a packed bed split-cylinder airlift reactor
The effects of aeration velocity and liquid properties on the pertinent hydrodynamic and mass transfer parameters in a split-cylinder airlift reactor (with and without packing) were examined. Four different oil-in-water micro-emulsion systems containing kerosene, heavy naphtha, light naphtha and diesel as the oil at the concentration of 7% (v/v) were used in

7. NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF THE FLOW OF EMULSION THROUGH STRAIGHT AND CONSTRICTED CAPILLARIES / ANÁLISE NUMÉRICA DO ESCOAMENTO DE EMULSÕES ATRAVÉS DE CAPILARES RETOS E CAPILARES COM GARGANTA
Emulsion can be used as a mobility control agent in enhanced oil recovery methods in order to achieve a more efficient sweep of the reservoir. The application of such technique requires full understanding of how emulsions flow in a porous material. The macroscopic flow behavior can be determined based on the pore scale flow, at which emulsions cannot be trea

8. Extração induzida por quebra de emulsão: uma nova estratégia para determinação de metais traços em amostras de óleo / Extração induzida por quebra de emulsão: uma nova estratégia para determinação de metais traços em amostras de óleo / Extraction induced by emulsion breaking: a new strategy for the trace metals determination oil sample / Extraction induced by emulsion breaking: a new strategy for the trace metals determination oil sample
The present work reports the development of a novel methodology for the determination of trace metals in organic liquids. The method is based on the extraction induced by emulsion breaking, which is carried out with the formation of a stable emulsion between the oil (10 mL) and an aqueous phase (2 mL) containing a surfactant and acid. After that, the emulsio

10. Multiple emulsions containing amazon oil: açaí oil (Euterpe oleracea)
The aim of this work was to formulate O/W/O multiple emulsions containing açaí oil as a model system and to evaluate their physical stability and in vivo Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Multiple emulsions are complex dispersion systems, known also as, "emulsions of emulsions". These emulsion systems, have significant potential in the cosmetic industry. Euterp

11. OBTENÇÃO E CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE EMULSÃO PARA CORREÇÃO DE ESCOAMENTO DE ÓLEO PESADO. / OBTAINING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF EMULSION FOR CORRECTION OF HEAVY OIL FLOW.
Extracting and producing heavy oil presents many difficulties, promoted by the nature of the constant quantities involved, such as viscosity of the oil, the means through where it moves the salinity of water, oil composition, the temperature and so forth. In the pumping, the amount of oil which is drawn is not enough to meet the expenses, that is, the cost-e

12. Reversible flow of cholesteryl ester between high-density lipoproteins and triacylglycerol-rich particles is modulated by the fatty acid composition and concentration of triacylglycerols
We determined the influence of fasting (FAST) and feeding (FED) on cholesteryl ester (CE) flow between high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and plasma apoB-lipoprotein and triacylglycerol (TG)-rich emulsions (EM) prepared with TG-fatty acids (FAs). TG-FAs of varying chain lengths and degrees of unsaturation were tested in the presence of a plasma fraction at d >
