1. THE INFLUENCE OF THE FILM FORMED ON THE PRATO CHEESE SURFACE DURING THE NACL AND KCL SALTING PROCESS: APPLICATION OF THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD AND NEURAL NETWORKS OF THE SELF-ORGANIZING MAP (SOM) AND MULTILAYER PERCEPTRON (MLP) TYPES
Sodium chloride is used in the cheese salting process as it promotes sensory changes and food preservation. However, in excess can cause hypertension problems, and for this reason, it has been partially replaced by potassium chloride. In the present work, Prato cheese was subjected to joint diffusion of NaCl and KCl by immersion in static and stirred brine.

3. A power law study of the edge influence on the perceived filling-in brightness magnitude
Abstract: Background: Edge plays a special role in spatial perception and as well as in determining the brightness of a surface within borders. The aim of our study was to measure threshold brightness in different levels of edges thickness. Methods: Steven's power law for circles modulating in luminance was estimated for 30 subjects (mean age 24 years, SD

5. Soil Microbial Biomass as an Edge Effect Indicator in Semi-Deciduous Seasonal Forest Fragments
ABSTRACT This work had the objective to evaluate the activity and microbial biomass of the soil as an indicator of edge effect in Semi-Deciduous Seasonal Forest fragments. Three fragments of different sizes (small, medium and large) located in the Southwest region of Bahia state were evaluated, in which three sampling ranges were defined in each, and soil sa

6. Edge Effect on the Litter Production of a Semi-Deciduous Seasonal Forest Fragment
ABSTRACT The edge effect makes forest communities more susceptible to changes and may cause changes in different ecosystem characteristics such as litter production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the edge effect on the contribution of litter and its temporal variation in a Semi-Deciduous Seasonal Forest fragment located in Vitória da Conquista,

7. Dynamic Response Analysis of Geogrid Reinforced Embankment Supported by CFG Pile Structure During a High-Speed Train Operation
Abstract The performance of railroad structure has a tremendous influence on the safety and stable operation of high-speed trains. Strong vibrations and the degradation rate of the track are the main factors affecting the transport safety of a railroad built over a weak soil. Geogrid reinforced embankment supported by pile structure is a new efficient constr

8. Influence of a Femtosecond Laser Surface Modification on the Fatigue Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V ELI Alloy
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the influence of surface modification by femtosecond laser (with average fluence of 0.6 J/cm2 and scanning speed of 0.1 mm/s) on the fatigue resistance of Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy. A significant reduction in the fatigue strength of the material modified by laser was observed. Residual tensile stresses generated

9. Influence of microhabitat on the richness of anuran species: a case study of different landscapes in the Atlantic Forest of southern Brazil
Abstract: Environmental heterogeneity is a factor which can help explain the higher local species richness. The objective of this study was to test if richness and composition of anurans species are related to available microhabitats and landscape type of sampled sites. We assume that a higher number of microhabitats increase environmental heterogeneity and

10. Identification and management of inverted or everted edges of traumatic tympanic membrane perforations

11. Litterfall: A Bio-indicator for Edge Effect in a Semi-deciduous Seasonal Forest
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the use of litterfall as an indicator of fragmentation in a Semi-deciduous Seasonal Forest in Além Paraíba, MG, Brazil. Litterfall was collected monthly for one year in conical collectors (0.25 m2 of surface), located at seven distances from the forest edge: 10, 30, 60, 100, 160, 250 and 350 m. The litterfall was drie

12. Influence of remaining coronal thickness and height on biomechanical behavior of endodontically treated teeth: survival rates, load to fracture and finite element analysis
Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of restorative strategy (fiber post vs cast post and core), coronal height (0 mm vs 2 mm) and thickness (higher than 1 mm vs lower than 1 mm) on survival rate, fracture resistance and stress distribution. Material and Methods Seventy-two bovine teeth were cleaned and allocated in six groups (n = 12). Twenty-four te
