1. Teaching Chemistry Based on the Stimulus Equivalence Model
Participaram oito alunos do Ensino Médio. Utilizaram-se quatro classes de es

2. Propofol inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion but promotes apoptosis by regulation of Sox4 in endometrial cancer cells
Propofol is an intravenous sedative hypnotic agent of which the growth-inhibitory effect has been reported on various cancers. However, the roles of propofol in endometrial cancer (EC) remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the effects of propofol on EC in vitro and in vivo. Different concentrations of propofol were used to treat Ishikawa cells. Colony

3. Mimosine and cyclophosphamide: a potential new combination therapy used to prevent tumor development
The effects of mimosine (MI), which is an amino acid that is derived from Leucaena leucocephala, were evaluated on the growth of ascitic Ehrlich tumors, and the effects of the combination treatment of MI and cyclophosphamide (CY) on tumor growth were also assessed. Mice were divided into groups that received the following treatments over the course of 20 day

4. AplicaÃÃo do MÃtodo das Isozonas na ObtenÃÃo das EquaÃÃes IDF de Chuvas Intensas dos MunicÃpios de Juazeiro do Norte, Barbalha e Crato - CE / Isozones Method applied in the obtention of the heavy rainfall IDF equations of the Juazeiro do Norte, Barbalha and Crato (CE) municipalities.
The increase in use of urban and rural land demands knowledge on statistically treated data on intensity, duration and frequency of heavy rainfall, allowing better forecasting of peak flow rates - used in the design of drainage networks. The damage caused by flooding of urban and rural areas are only avoided by well dimensioned drainage works, resulting in c

6. Protective effect of maternal prenatal melatonin administration on rat pups born to mothers submitted to constant light during gestation
We studied the effects of adverse conditions such as constant light (LL) on the circadian rhythm of malate (MDH, EC 1.1.1.37) and lactate (LDH, EC 1.1.1.27) dehydrogenase activities of the testes of male Wistar rats on postnatal day 28 (PN28), anxiety-like behavior (elevated plus-maze test) at PN60 and sexual behavior at PN120. The rats were assigned to moth

7. Desenvolvimento e reprodução do predador Brontocoris tabidus (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) no campo após exposição à deltametrina / Development and reproduction of the predator Brontocoris tabidus (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) in field conditions after exposition to deltamethrin
Insecticide usage can have a detrimental impact on the development and reproduction of natural enemys populations. Pyrethroids such as deltamethrin is widely used in agroecossystems and forest plantations where has shown selectivity to beneficial insects such as predatory bugs. The soldier bug Brontocoris tabidus (Signoret, 1852) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae)

8. Rickettsial stimulation of endothelial platelet-activating factor synthesis.
Endothelial cells (EC) synthesize platelet-activating factor (PAF) when activated by agents such as ATP or thrombin, and PAF production occurs as a consequence of endothelial phospholipase A activity. Because interactions between Rickettsia prowazekii and a variety of host cells result in the expression of phospholipase A activity, we assessed the relative a

9. Extracellular superoxide dismutase in the airways of transgenic mice reduces inflammation and attenuates lung toxicity following hyperoxia
Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD, or SOD3) is the major extracellular antioxidant enzyme in the lung. To study the biologic role of EC-SOD in hyperoxic-induced pulmonary disease, we created transgenic (Tg) mice that specifically target overexpression of human EC-SOD (hEC-SOD) to alveolar type II and nonciliated bronchial epithelial cells. Mice hete

10. Comprehensive Analysis of the Mouse Metabolome Based on the Transcriptome
The complete set of cDNAs encoding the enzymes of known metabolic pathways has not previously been available for any mammal. Here, transcripts encoding the metabolic pathways of the mouse (mouse metabolome) were reconstructed by making use of the KEGG metabolic pathway database and gene ontology (GO) assignment to the mouse representative transcript and

11. Metabolic activity of pathogenic bacteria during semicontinuous anaerobic digestion.
In natural environments such as anaerobic digesters, bacteria are frequently subjected to the stress of nutrient fluxes because of the continual changes in the flow of nutrients, and to survive, they must be capable of adapting readily to nutrient changes. In this study, the metabolic activities of Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Yersinia enterocol

12. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic models of the antistaphylococcal effects of meropenem and cloxacillin in vitro and in experimental infection.
The efficacies of meropenem (MPM) and cloxacillin (CLC) against two Staphylococcus aureus strains were established in vitro. A pharmacodynamic model equation, based on the concept that the killing rate depends on concentration and time, was fitted to the numbers of CFU. The parameters of the equation are maximum killing rate, time point of maximum killing, a
