13. Physical-mechanical behavior of alkali-activated materials produced by the one-part method based on fly ash and rice husk ash
Abstract The study on the physical-mechanical properties of alkali-activated materials (AAM) produced by the ‘one-part’ method was carried out. For this, residues such as fly ash and rice husk ash (RHA) were used. The alkaline activator (NaOH) was calcined together with RHA for 2 h at 750 °C. Dry mixes were prepared by replacing fly ash with 10%, 20%, a

14. Effectiveness of Dry Needling in Bothersome Chronic Tinnitus in Patients with Myofascial Trigger Points
Abstract Introduction Therapeutic dry needling (DN) is effective in reducing the discomfort of chronic somatosensory tinnitus in patients with myofascial trigger points (MTP)s. Objective To evaluate the efficacy of DN in chronic somatosensory tinnitus discomfort in patients with MTP. Methods Placebo-controlled paired trial that included 16 patients with a

15. Linear relationships between biometric variables in lettuce seedlings
ABSTRACT Seedling production is an important step in growing vegetables. The study of relationships between variables has applications in practically all areas of study and is useful in identifying relationships among quality variables in vegetable seedlings. Thus, this work aims to estimate linear relationships between biometric variables in lettuce seedlin

16. Radiation Balance and Partitioning of Latent and Sensible Heat Fluxes Over a Lime Orchard in Eastern Amazon
Abstract We investigate the balance of radiation and energy over a lime orchard in Eastern Amazon and how it relates to environmental conditions. We found that lime trees aged between 6 and 7 years old reflect 11.0% to 14.5% of incoming shortwave radiation, and the latent heat flux corresponds to 57.6% and 66.6% of the daily net radiation in the dry season (

17. Inoculation with Azospirillum combined with nitrogen fertilization in sorghum intercropped with Urochloa in off-season
ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the management of nitrogen fertilization in grains of sorghum inoculated or not with Azospirillum brasilense in single crop or intercropped with Urochloa brizantha (cv. Paiaguás) in the off-season. The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with four replications, in a 2 x 2 x 3 facto

18. Gas exchange and water stress index in soybean cultivated under water deficit and soil compaction
ABSTRACT Water stress is intrinsically related to soil water availability which is determinant in gas exchanges, as well as soil compaction in soybean growth and development. This study aimed to evaluate the leaf gas exchange, water stress index, and dry mass accumulation of soybean cultivated in different daily irrigation depths and bulk density. The treatm

19. Evaluation of ocular psoriasis with meibography
Abstract Background: Previous studies has shown that dry eye test abnormalities, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), may occur in psoriasis. Objectives: The authors aimed to evaluate the dry eye disease (DED), MGD, in psoriasis patients with meibography which is a current, objective, noninvasive method for patients with meibomian gland diseases, to investig

21. Gas permeability and compressive strength evaluation of porous Al2O3 supported membrane
Abstract The aim was to investigate the feasibility of using a device to characterize permeability in porous substrates with low gas flux. Al2O3 supports were prepared by dry pressing using 1 to 3 wt% of polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a pore-forming agent. The green body was partially sintered at 1300 ºC. CO2 gas was used to measure both the pressure loss and

22. FUZZY MODELING OF SALINITY EFFECTS ON RADISH YIELD UNDER REUSE WATER IRRIGATION
ABSTRACT The increase of water usage for food production in recent years has triggered researches on ways to optimize the use of water and to reuse saline water. The present study analyzes the effects of reused saline water in the irrigation of radish culture and the construction of a fuzzy logical mathematic model so that producers may evaluate their produc

24. Cadmium accumulation and toxicity in watercress (Barbarea verna), chicory (Cichorium endivia) and rocket (Eruca sativa) plants
ABSTRACT Some vegetables have the ability to accumulate cadmium (Cd)at levels that are toxic to most other plants. The objective of thisstudy was to evaluate the Cd accumulation and its toxic effects on edible vegetables. Three species were tested: watercress (Barbarea verna); chicory (Cichorium endivia); rocket (Eruca sativa) and four Cd doses (0; 1.5; 3.0;
