1. Análise da dispersão das populações nativas americanas: uma abordagem genético-fisiográfica / Dispersion analysis of the native american populations: a genetic-fisiographyc approach
Until recently, the settlement of the Americas was seen as the product of a \"bow wave\" human expansion from north do south. Under this scenario, the archaeological sites of the first americans should obey a chronological gradient following the same logic, independent of their longitude. Recently, however, specialists began to recognize that certain charact

2. Uniparental (mtDNA, Y-chromosome) polymorphisms in French Guiana and two related populations : implications for the region's colonization
Blood samples collected in four Amerindian French Guiana populations (Palikur, Emerillon, Wayampi and Kali’na) in the early 1980s were screened for selected mtDNA and Y-chromosome length polymorphisms, and sequenced for the mtDNA hypervariable segment I (HVS-I). In addition, two other Amerindian populations (Apala´ı and Matsiguenga) were examined for the

Genetic and morphological study of Aedes aegypti (culicidae) population in São Paulo (SP) metropolitan area.
Populational studies of Ae. aegypti are important to develop control strategies, but unfortunately the State of São Paulo lacks such studies. Despite this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate genetic and phenotypic variability of population samples of Ae. aegypti from four collecting sites in the metropolitan area of São Paulo city. The inte

4. Diversidade genética em agregações de Nannotrigona testaceicornis Cockerell, 1922 (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) através de marcadores microssatélites / Genetic diversity in aggregations of Nannotrigona testaceicornis Cockerell, 1922 (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) by using microsatellites markers
As abelhas Nannotrigona testaceicornis, utilizadas neste trabalho, s

6. Uso de marcadores microssatélites para avaliação genética de populações de Melipona mandacaia Smith, 1863 (Hymenoptera, Apoidea) no Estado da Bahia / Microssatellites markers applied to genetic evaluation of populations of Melipona mandacaia Smith, 1863 (Hymenoptera, Apoidea) in Bahia State, Brazil
Melipona mandacaia, is an indigenous stingless bee (Meliponini Tribe), an endemic species of the semi-arid of the northeast of Brazil. The original flora of the caatinga has been altered by the human action. This alteration reduces the food resources and the places available for nesting, so this affects the dispersion and the genetic flow of the populations

RAPD grouping of accesses and cultivars of three Brachiaria species

Nowadays the human genetic identification its based on the utilization of a set of autosomal markers, the microsatellites, which fulfils the majority of the forensic genetic labs requirements. However, there are some situations when that the usual autosomal microsatellites dont always offer good results. Those situations include cases where the genetic sampl

Ambas as espécies pertencem à família Ciconiidae, apresentam distribuição geográfica, morfologia e biologia similares, porém

10. Análise da estrutura genética de populações e sistema reprodutivo de Oryza glumaepatula por meio de microssatélites / Genetic structure and mating system of Oryza glumaepatula steud. populations using microsatellite markers
Informations about genetic structure and breeding systems are little and poorly of natural O. glumaepatula populations. The objective of this study was the characterization of the genetic structure of 11 populations from Japura, Solimoes, Purus, Negro, Xingu and Tapajos rivers (from Amazon Hidrographic Basin) and from Paraguai and Taquari rivers (from Paragu

The Brazilian coast extends over nearly 8,000km. Along the coastline, several marine ecosystems can be found and determine a rich ichthyofauna, regarding both diversity and number of species. The reef sites are characterized as the main reason for such abundance. As a paradox, genetic studies aiming to characterize the several species and populations from th

12. A Comparison of Population Differentiation across Four Classes of Gene Marker in Limber Pine (Pinus Flexilis James)
We examined genetic differentiation among seven populations of limber pine using four classes of gene marker. Among-population differentiation was much higher for maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA polymorphisms than for paternally inherited chloroplast DNA, indicating that wind-dispersed pollen is the main agent of gene flow. Chloroplast DNA differentia
