13. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as a Biondicator of Copper and Cadmium Toxicity. A Bioavailability Approach
The acute toxicity of copper and cadmium in Oreochromis niloticus was evaluated through a 96 h static assay. Precipitation of Cu and co-precipitation of Cd in the presence of Cu were noted, being indicative of differences in nominal and actual concentrations of metals. Under these conditions, LC50-96h was determined as 3.53 mg L-1Cu, 20.1 mg L-1 Cd and 1.36

14. Treatment of Sanitary Landfill Leachate by Photo-Fenton Process: Effect of the Matrix Composition
In this study it was evaluated the role of the composition of sanitary landfill leachate on the removal of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) by photo-Fenton process. The composition of the matrix (high turbidity and color, as well as presence of inorganic ions sulfate and chloride) does not reduce the efficiency of DOC removal by photo-Fenton reactions, but inf

15. Estuary Adjacent to a Megalopolis as Potential Disrupter of Carbon and Nutrient Budgets in the Coastal Ocean
The goals were to estimate nutrients and carbon flow rates between Guanabara Bay and the adjacent coastal waters, to characterize the provenance of the exported/imported organic matter. Samples were collected from different depths over 25 h in two seasons at the bay entrance. Measurements included physicochemical parameters, nutrients, chlorophylls, dissolve

16. Cellulase activity and dissolved organic carbon release from lignocellulose macrophyte-derived in four trophic conditions
Abstract Considering the importance of lignocellulose macrophyte-derived for the energy flux in aquatic ecosystems and the nutrient concentrations as a function of force which influences the decomposition process, this study aims to relate the enzymatic activity and lignocellulose hydrolysis in different trophic statuses. Water samples and two macrophyte spe

17. Eichhornia azurea decomposition and the bacterial dynamic: an experimental research
Abstract Organic decomposition is a complex interaction between chemical, physical and biological processes, where the variety of aquatic vascular plants is essential for the trophic dynamics of freshwater ecosystems. The goal of this study was to determine the aquatic macrophyte Eichhornia azurea (Sw.) Kunth decomposition rate, the time relation with the li

18. IDENTIFICAÇÃO DE COMPOSTOS ORGÂNICOS EM LIXIVIADO DE ATERRO SANITÁRIO MUNICIPAL POR CROMATOGRAFIA GASOSA ACOPLADA A ESPECTROMETRIA DE MASSAS
The organic compounds present in leachate can contaminate soil, superficial and underground water, and the majority is considered harmful to the environment and human health. The objective of this study was to identify organic compounds present in landfill leachate located in Maringá-PR by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The raw

19. COMBINING A SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR WITH HETEROGENEOUS PHOTOCATALYSIS (TiO2/UV) FOR TREATING A PENCIL MANUFACTURER'S WASTEWATER
Abstract A Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) was combined with heterogeneous photocatalysis (TiO2/UV) as a tertiary treatment for a pencil manufacturer's wastewater. The SBR removed almost all Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) from the wastewater, although color was barely removed. Photocatalysis was optimized using a factorial design. Final COD, Dissolved Organic C

20. Aspectos da biogeoquímica dos rios Teles Pires e Cristalino - MT / Aspects of the biogeochemistry of Teles Pires and Cristalino rivers - MT
The Amazon basin occupies around 40% of the brazilian territory and contains more than 60% of the water resources of the country. Abundant and yet little exploited region water resources constitute a national treasure to which the nation can not turn its back. Besides changes in land use/cover, several hydroelectrical plants are planned for rivers in the reg

21. Sorção e lixiviação de tiametoxam em solos tratados com lodo de esgoto e cultivados com cafeeiro
The objective of this study was to evaluate the sorption and leaching of thiamethoxam in dystrophic Red-Yellow Latosol (LVAd), dystroferric Red Latosol (LVdf) and Red-Yellow Argisol (PVAd) with coffee under the effect of sewage sludge doses. There was thiamethoxam sorption decreasing at higher doses of sewage sludge in LVAd and LVdf. In the PVAd, sorption wa

22. Nitrificação e desnitrificação simultânea em reator com biomassa em suspensão e fluxo contínuo de esgoto / Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in reactor with biomass in suspension and continuous flow of sewage
It was developed in Europe the process known as Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification (SND) in activated sludge that operates with a SRT, high enough for nitrification to occur, even with low concentration of dissolved oxygen in the aeration tanks. Such situation in the tanks is possible to maintain anoxic conditions inside the flocs and to have the

23. Aspectos cinéticos da degradação aeróbia e anaeróbia de Cyperus giganteus, Eichhornia azurea e Egeria najas da lagoa do Óleo (Estação Ecológica de Jataí, Luiz Antônio, SP)
This study aimed to assess the effects of temperature on different aspects of aerobic and anaerobic degradation of aquatic macrophytes from different ecological groups: Cyperus giganteus (emergent), Eichhornia azurea (fixed floating) and Egeria najas (submerged). Considering these purposes, the carbon balance and mass decay, the cellulase and peroxidase acti

24. ProduÃÃo de Ãcido CÃtrico utilizando glicerol residual da produÃÃo de biodiesel como substrato / Production of citric acid using residual glycerol from biodiesel production as a substrate
Due to government financial incentives, which boost the production of biodiesel, there has been a large scale production of this fuel. However, this growth has proved to be exaggerated, rising a worrying factor: the destination of the glycerol excess from biodiesel production. Such concern is clearly shown to prove an important fact: for every ton of biodies
