13. Electrochromic Properties of Polyaniline-Based Hybrid Organic/Inorganic Materials
Hybrid materials based on polyaniline (PAni) were obtained by in situ polymerization of aniline with chitosan and/or organically modified clay (nanomer I-24) in HCl. The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and direct current (DC) electrical conductivity. Thi

14. Rat dental pulp stem cells: isolation and phenotypic characterization method aiming bone tissue bioengineering
ABSTRACT: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) have been showing a considerable potential for regenerative medicine. Pulps were collected from lower incisors (n=2) through direct access of the tooth pulp chamber. The isolated cells were cultured in alfa-MEM 10% FBS, in standard culture conditions. At the third passage, DPSC were characterized by flow cytometry (MHC

15. Optimization of a New Methodology for Determination of Total Phenolic Content in Rice Employing Fast Blue BB and QUENCHER Procedure
Response surface methodology was used to optimize the total phenolic content (TPC) result in white rice, using a new methodology that employed Fast Blue BB (FBBB) reagent, which reacts more specifically with phenolic compounds, along with direct QUENCHER procedure. This is the first time in which such conciliation between FBBB reagent and QUENCHER was done.

16. Direct intraperitoneal resuscitation with lidocaine, methylene blue and pentoxiphylline combination does not decreases inflammation after intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To evaluate the effects of an intraperitoneal solution of methylene blue (MB), lidocaine and pentoxyphylline (PTX) on intestinal ischemic and reperfusion injury METHODS: Superior mesenteric artery was isolated and clamped in 36 adult male Sprague Dawley rats. After 60 minutes, clamp was removed and a group received intraperitoneally UNIT

17. Decolorization of azo dyes (Direct Blue 151 and Direct Red 31) by moderately alkaliphilic bacterial consortium
Abstract Removal of synthetic dyes is one of the main challenges before releasing the wastes discharged by textile industries. Biodegradation of azo dyes by alkaliphilic bacterial consortium is one of the environmental-friendly methods used for the removal of dyes from textile effluents. Hence, this study presents isolation of a bacterial consortium from soi

18. LAMP technology: Rapid identification of Brucella and Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis
In this study, we developed new sets of primers to detect Brucella spp. and M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) through isothermal amplification. We selected a previously well-characterized target gene, bscp31, specific for Brucella spp. and IS900 for MAP. The limits of detection using the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) protocols described

19. Identifying unrecognized collecting system entry and the integrity of repair during open partial nephrectomy: comparison of two techniques
Purpose To compare retrograde dye injection through an externalized ureteral catheter with direct needle injection of dye into proximal ureter for identification of unrecognized collecting system disruption and integrity of subsequent repair during open partial nephrectomy. Materials and Methods We retrospectively reviewed the records of 259 consecutive

20. Clinical and microbiological features of cryptococcal meningitis
Introduction In this study, the clinical features, underlying diseases and clinical outcomes of patients with cryptococcosis were investigated. In addition, a molecular analysis of the Cryptococcus neoformans species complex isolated from these patients was performed. Methods A prospective study of 62 cases of patients with cryptococcal infection was cond

22. Viral inactivation in hemotherapy: systematic review on inactivators with action on nucleic acids
The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review on the photoinactivators used in hemotherapy, with action on viral genomes. The SciELO, Science Direct, PubMed and Lilacs databases were searched for articles. The inclusion criterion was that these should be articles on inactivators with action on genetic material that had been published between 2000

23. Avaliação do processo de adsorção-fotodegradação com esferas de TiO2-quitosana para o tratamento de efluentes de indústria têxtil / Evaluation of the adsorption-photodegradation with chitosan-TiO2 beads for the treatment of effluents of textile industry

Hard polyurethane polymers (PU-1, PU-2, PU-3 and PU-4) were developed in this study, obtained from polyols derived from Mabea fistulifera Mart oil. The chemical modification of the oil occurred through an in situ hydroxylation reaction employing acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid. The reaction conditions were optimized using a factorial composi
