1. Influencia de la porosidad en las propiedades magnéticas de arreglos de nanohilos de Ni
ABSTRACTThe hysteresis properties of ordered arrays of Ni nanowires, electrodeposited into cylindrical nanoporous alumina membranes were investigated. The effect of the nanowire geometry (diameter and length), the array order and the nanowires' volume fraction on the array coercivity and remanence were analyzed. Porous alumina membranes were produced by a tw

3. Large scale anisotropy of ultra high energy cosmic rays with the Pierre Auger Observatory / Anisotropia de larga escala em raios cosmicos de altissima energia no Observatorio Pierre Auger

In this work, we investigated magnetic nanoparticles based on copper ferrite, with mean sizes ranging between 3,5 nm e 10,7 nm. Such nanomaterials are chemically synthesized by hydrothermal coprecipitation and allow elaborating magnetic nanocolloids in aqueous and acidic medium thanks to a core-shell strategy that prevent the nanoparticles from dissolution.

5. Estudo de sistemas magneticos em estruturas periodicas / Study of magnetic systems in periodic structures
In this thesis we employ the holographic lithography (HL) technique to reproduce periodic patterns that were subsequently used as masks for the deposition of magnetic materials by sputtering. The structures present the same periodicity of the previously recorded mask. One advantage of this technique is the very good aspect ratio, even for areas of the order

6. Microwave study of trap and precipitation of electrons in solar burst / Estudo em microondas do aprisionamento e precipitação de elétrons em explosões solares
We have studied the process of particle number density evolution during solar flares from the microwave emission point of view. In order to do this, we have used the database of Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO), with approximately 100 events that occurred between 1998 and 2000 that were observed in seven frequencies (1, 2, 3.8, 9.4, 17, 35, and 80 GHz), in t

7. High-resolution solid-state NMR of quadrupolar nuclei
We report the observation of high-resolution solid-state NMR spectra of 23Na (I = [unk]), 27Al (I = [unk]) and 51V (I = [unk]) in various inorganic systems. We show that, contrary to popular belief, relatively high-resolution (≈10 ppm linewidth) spectra may be obtained from quadrupolar systems, in which electric quadrupole coupling constants (e2qQ/h) are i

8. Conformation of sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol bound to a magnetically oriented membrane system.
The conformation of uniformly 13C-labeled sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol (SQDG) is studied in both membrane and solution environments using NMR spectroscopy. Analysis in a membrane-like environment is based on the measurement of dipolar interactions between 13C-13C and 1H-13C spin pairs and on the measurement of 13C chemical shift anisotropy offsets, which ap

9. Tilt and Azimuthal Angles of a Transmembrane Peptide: A Comparison between Molecular Dynamics Calculations and Solid-State NMR Data of Sarcolipin in Lipid Membranes
We report molecular dynamics simulations in the explicit membrane environment of a small membrane-embedded protein, sarcolipin, which regulates the sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca-ATPase activity in both cardiac and skeletal muscle. In its monomeric form, we found that sarcolipin adopts a helical conformation, with a computed average tilt angle of 28 ± 6° and az
