1. Green Synthesis of Upconverting NaYF4 and NaGdF4 Materials and Energy Levels Determination
An alternative green route using a domestic microwave oven to synthesize NaGdF4:Yb,Tm and NaYF4:Yb,Er was successfully developed. Decreasing dopants concentration increased the β-NaREF4/α-NaREF4 ratio in NaGdF4. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of NaGdF4 showed particles ranging from 500 nm to 1 μm with formation of aggregates up to 100 μm,

2. Complexes with Furyl-Substituted 3-Hydroxychromone: Synthesis, Characterization and Fluorescence Studies
2-(2-Furyl)-3-hydroxychromone (HL) reacts with MII ions in the formation of quadratic [Cu(L)2] (3), octahedral [M(L)2(OH2)2] (M = Co (1), Ni (2), Zn (4), Mn (5)) and seesaw [M(L)2] (M = Sn (6), Pb (7)) complexes. Recrystallization of complexes 1-3 in presence of pyridine lead to [M(L)2(py)2] (1a-3a) aducts. All compounds were characterized by Fourier transfo

3. IN SITU DRIFTS/MS STUDIES ON THE INTERACTION OF METHANOL AND ETHYL ACETATE OVER MG-LA CATALYST
The surface intermediates formed on the Mg-La catalyst (molar ratio 1:1) were studied through temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy coupled to mass spectrometry (DRIFTS-MS) using methanol (MeOH) and ethyl acetate (EA) as probe molecules. TPD results showed that the products formed from adsorbe

4. Solvothermal Synthesis of Cerium-Doped Titania Nanostructured Materials Modified with Acetylacetone for Solar-Driven Photocatalysis
This study reports the preparation of nanostructured cerium-doped titanium dioxide photocatalysts containing different cerium concentrations by a modified sol-gel route involving the use of acetylacetone. The nanocrystalline powders had their structural, morphological, and optical properties characterized by X-ray diffraction, vibrational and Raman spectrosc

5. Estimation of soil phosphorus availability via visible and near-infrared spectroscopy
ABSTRACT: Spectroscopic techniques have great potential to evaluate soil properties. However, there are still questions regarding the applicability of spectroscopy to analyze soil phosphorous (P) availability, especially in tropical soils with low nutrient contents. Therefore, this study evaluated the possibility to estimate P availability in soil and its po

6. Hydrogen production from aqueous glycerol using titanate nanotubes decorated with Au nanoparticles as photocatalysts
Abstract: Protonated titanate nanotubes (HTiNts) were synthesized using the hydrothermal method, followed by proton exchange with acid. Gold nanoparticles decorated titanate nanotubes (AuHTiNts) were obtained by the reduction of AuCl4- under vigorous stirring with an aqueous solution of HTiNts containing 1 wt% of ascorbic acid. To investigate the surface str

9. Cr3+ Doped Al2O3 Obtained by Non-Hydrolytic Sol-Gel Methodology
This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of Cr3+-doped alumina by the sol-gel non-hydrolytic methodology. The resulting sample was treated at different temperatures. X-ray diffraction revealed that the ruby phase emerged in the sample treated at 1100 ºC, which was later confirmed by absorption bands correspondent to Cr3+ ions allowed transition

12. Preparation of Antireflective Silica Coating by the Sol-Gel Method for Heliothermic Power Plants
This work deals with the deposition of a thin layer of porous silica antireflective coating onto glass substrates. The films were deposited with different withdrawal speeds and heat-treated at 425°C for 30 minutes. The effects of heat treatment and film deposition rate on the films reflectance were evaluated. The diffuse reflectance was measured using ultra
