1. Stratigraphy, petrography and tectonics of the manganese-bearing Buritirama Formation, Northern Carajás Domain, Amazon Craton
Abstract The Buritirama Formation (BF) occurs at the extreme north of the Carajás Province, close to the contact with the Bacajá domain, in the southeastern portion of the Amazon Craton (Brazil). The BF consists of a 40 km long, ca. 3 km wide NW-SE trending structure arranged in four imbricated thrusts that individualize three main stratigraphic units. The

2. Sedimentology and chemostratigraphy of a Valanginian carbonate succession from the Baja Guajira Basin, northern Colombia
ABSTRACT: The Kesima Member of the Palanz Formation constitutes the first record of Cretaceous marine sedimentation along the Baja Guajira Basin, northern Colombia. Sedimentologic and petrographic analyses suggest a deposition along a coral reef dominated rimmed carbonate platform. 87Sr/86Sr values between 0.707350 and 0.707400 suggest a Valanginian (136 - 1

4. Tectônica e sedimentação na Bacia do Camaquã Central (RS): exemplos do Grupo Guaritas e do Grupo Santa Bárbara / Tectonics and sedimentation in Central Camaquã Basin: the Guaritas Group and the Santa Bárbara Group
The relationship between tectonics and sedimentation plays a primordial role in the understanding of sedimentary successions. On the other hand, the study of pre-Silurian fluvial deposits represents a challenge due to the lack of interaction between land plants and river systems which characterizes post-Silurian environments. The Camaquã Basin (Ediacaran to

5. Evolução tectono-estratigráfica e paleoclimática da formação maricá (Escudo Sul-Rio-Grandense, Brasil) : um exercício de geologia histórica e análise integrada de uma bacia sedimentar neoproterozóica
Significant improvement in the knowledge concerning the Neoproterozoic Maricá Formation of the Sul-riograndense Shield, southern Brazil, was obtained in the latest years. This contribution synthesizes recent data obtained though an integrated analysis of the lowermost unit of the “Camaquã Basin”. Stratigraphic and paleocurrent analyses, petrography, Sr

6. Significado tectônico dos depósitos de leques aluviais da Formação Santa Bárbara (Eo-Paleozóico) na região de Caçapava do Sul (RS, Brasil)
The alluvial fan deposits of Early Paleozoic Santa Bárbara Formation, located in Sul-rio-grandense Shield area of southernmost Brazil, have been analyzed here in terms of facies associations and tectonic significance. The investigated unit comprises conglomerates, sandstones, and siltstones, deposited probably under continental semi-arid climate conditions,

7. Sedimentary facies and provenance of the Bebedouro Formation, Neoproterozoic (BA) / Fácies sedimentares e proveniência da Formação Bebedouro, Neoproterozóico (BA)
The sedimentary record of Neoproterozoic age has become a major subject of research since the rebirth of the models of extreme glaciation and rapid climatic changes for the period, including the Snowball Earth hypothesis. These models are founded on the identification, in all continents, of Neoproterozoic diamictites directly overlain by carbonates, which ar

8. A história do intemperismo na Província Borborema Oriental, Nordeste do Brasil: implicações paleoclimáticas e tectônicas
Until some years ago, weathering geochronology was primarily based on the K-Ar and 40Ar/39Ar dating of supergene minerals. Recent advances in the analysis of supergene goethite by the (U-Th)/He method expanded the number of suitable minerals for such purpose, as well as the time of application for weathering geochronology. This study represents the first sys

9. Aplicação da estratigrafia de sequências na seção albiana da porção sul da Bacia de Santos / Aplication of the stratigraphy of sequence on the albian section of the south portion of the Santos Basin
The main goal of this work is to detail the lower / middle Albian carbonatic section of Santos Basin based on the principles of Chemostratigraphy and Sequence Stratigraphy. Because this section was deposited under intense stress conditio ns (high salinity), its fossil content is very poor . It has limited the chronostratigraphic subdivision based only on bio

10. Delimitação de Reservatórios Delgados Utilizando Atributos Sísmicos
The Carapeba Field, discovered in 1982, is located around 65 km from the coast, at 90 m water depth, and had its production started in 1989. The Carapebas rock reservoirs are fine to coarse grained turbidite sandstones, locally conglomeratic, of Santonian age (around 85 Ma), at an average depth of 3000 m. These reservoirs are inserted in one of the most impo

11. Genese dos depositos auriferos em metaconglomerados da formação moeda, Quadrilatero Ferrifero, MG : o papel do metamorfismo e associação com a materia carbonosa / Genesis of the metaconglomerate-hosted gold deposits of the moeda formation, Quadrilatero Ferrifero (State of Minas Gerais) : role of the metamorphism and the association with carbonaceous matter
The Quadrilátero Ferrífero has historically been one of the most important gold province in Brazil, with a significant number of productive greenstone-hosted lode gold deposits within the Rio das Velhas Supergroup together with those associated with the metasedimentary sequence of the Minas Supergroup. At the base of the Moeda formation, Minas Supergroup,

12. EvoluÃÃo da Bacia ParaÃba Durante o Maastrichtiano-paleoceno - FormaÃÃes gramame e Maria Farinha, NE do Brasil / Evolution of the ParaÃba Basin During the Maastrichtiano-paleoceno - Formations gramame and Maria Flour, NE of Brazil
This work presents new information about the evolution of the Paraiba Basin during the Maastrichtian-Paleocene times. This period is represented by Gramame and Maria Farinha formations, carbonate units which occur in this basin. The main purpose of the present work was the improvement of the existent knowledge about these units. This research has used data f
