1. Dental implant surfaces treated with phosphoric acid can modulate cytokine production by blood MN cells
Abstract: The study characterizes dental implant surfaces treated with phosphoric acid to assess the effects of acid treatment on blood cells and correlate them with cytokine levels. The implant surfaces examined were divided into untreated metal surface (US; n = 50), metal surface treated with phosphoric acid (ATS; n = 50) and cement surface (CS; n = 50) gr

2. Hairy Tongue: Differential Diagnosis by Use of Widefield Optical Fluorescence

3. Detection of Helicobacter pylori in gastric biopsies, saliva and dental plaques of dyspeptic patients from Marília, São Paulo, Brazil: presence of vacA and cagA genes
Helicobacter pylori, a gram-negative bacterium, possesses two important virulence factors: the vacuolating toxin (vacA), and the cytotoxin-associated gene product (cagA). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the presence of H. pylori in the stomach and oral cavity of humans and compare the cagA and vacA genotypes of H. pylori found in different sampl

4. Helicobacter pylori detection in gastric biopsies, saliva and dental plaque of Brazilian dyspeptic patients
Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen that causes chronic gastritis and is associated with the development of peptic ulcer disease and gastric malignancies. The oral cavity has been implicated as a potential H. pylori reservoir and may therefore be involved in the reinfection of the stomach, which can sometimes occur following treatment of an H.

5. Detecção de bactérias periodontopatogênicas cultiváveis e não cultiváveis em placas ateromatosas
Periodontal infections consist of a group of inflammatory conditions caused by microorganisms that colonize the tooth surface through the formation of dental biofilm. Chronic infections such as periodontitis have been associated to the development and progression of atherosclerosis. AIM: Detect cultivatable and non-cultivatable periodontopathogenic bacteria

7. In vitro analysis of the degradation of the orthodontics rubber bands tensile strength in function of the quantity of activation / Análise in vitro, da degradação de forças dos anéis elásticos ortodônticos em função da quantidade de ativação.
The objective of this research is to analyze the quantity of degradation of the orthodontics rubber bands tensile strength in relation to different intensities of tivation twice, three times and four times their diameter in a relaxed state; the quantity and the level of degradation of the rubber bands tensile strength in relation to different commercial bran

8. Study of the mechanical behaviour of mouth protectors prepared with ethylene and vinyl acetate copolymer: experimental model of dental arches produced with epoxy / "Estudo do comportamento mecânico de protetores bucais confeccionados em copolímero de etileno e acetato de vinila: modelo experimental de arcos dentais obtidos em epóxi"
An experimental model of dental arch, moulded in epoxy, was used to study the mechanic behaviour of a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate (EVA), in the form of a flat plaque or mouth protector in function of three variables: thickness, temperature and the absence or presence of artificial saliva. The evaluation of the mechanical behaviour of EVA, as a pl

Analise da união e dos tecidos dentais (esmalte/dentina) adjacentes as restaurações com sistemas adesivos contendo fluoreto apos desafios cariogenicos in situ e in vitro / Analysis of adhesion and mineralized dental tissues (enamel/dentin) around restorations with fluoride-containing adhesive systems after cariogenic challenge in situ and in vitro

10. Transfer of Tn916-Like Elements in Microcosm Dental Plaques
Microcosm dental plaques were grown from an inoculum of human saliva in a constant-depth film fermentor. The inoculum contained four tetracycline-resistant streptococcal species, each of which contained a Tn916-like element. This element was shown to transfer to other streptococci both in filter-mating experiments and within the biofilms in the fermentor.

11. Method for Preclinical Evaluation of Antiplaque Agents
A preclinical method for the evaluation of antibacterial agents for use against dental plaques associated with caries and periodontal disease is proposed. The method is applicable to screening agents and to defining, in vitro, the minimal conditions required for maximal antiplaque effect. As a model of antiplaque agents, chlorhexidine was assessed in vitro a
