1. Rastreamento da displasia anal em pacientes infectados pelo HIV: há concordância entre o estregaço anal e a biópsia guiada por anuscopia de alta resolução? / Screening anal dysplasia in HIV-infected patients : is there an agreement between anal pap smear and high resolution anoscopy guided biopsy?

2. Lesões actinicamente induzidas em lábio inferior de pescadores: estudo clínico, cito e anatomopatológico / Actinic lesions in fishermen lower lip: clinical, cytopathological and histopathological analysis

3. Cytodiagnosis and the necropsy.
AIMS--To assess the efficacy of cytodiagnosis in necropsy practice. METHODS--Fifty three focal lesions from 46 necropsies were assessed by direct smears taken from the lesions. The smears were air-dried and stained by a modified Giemsa technique, with two cases having supplementary histochemistry. All of the slides were assessed independently before review o

4. Observer variation and quality control of cytodiagnosis
The aim of quality control of a laboratory investigation is to ensure that similar results are obtained on the same material at different centres. To investigate its practicability in cytodiagnosis, the same cytological material was examined independently at six centres. Each centre supplied material from 20 cases, providing a total of 120 cases, ie, 100 cas

5. The development of a urological cytodiagnosis service and an evaluation of its success
Results are given of a year's survey of a urological cytodiagnosis service (229 specimens) in its early stages. A significant degree of success has been obtained in detecting carcinomas of the bladder but bladder papillomata and prostatic and renal carcinomas are not so easily revealed. Other limitations are described.

9. Respiratory cytodiagnosis: study in observer variation and its relation to quality of material.
Sensitivity and accuracy of cytodiagnosis were assessed in a multicentre study. Six centres each provided sputum cytological material from 20 cases. Each centre screened and reported on the 100 slides provided by the other five centres. The reports were assessed against consensus reference diagnoses, reached by discussion with transparencies, histological se

10. A comparison of rapid methods including imprint cytodiagnosis for the diagnosis of breast tumours
Rapid diagnoses were made on 510 breast lumps by three methods in sequence and the results compared with those obtained by paraffin histology.

11. Cytodiagnosis of rheumatoid pleural effusions
The stained smears of the deposits from one pericardial and 19 pleural effusions complicating rheumatoid arthritis were examined. On the basis of clinical and biochemical evidence it was considered that in six cases the effusions were due to the rheumatoid disease while in a further nine cases the association was considered likely. In the remaining five case

12. Use of fine needle aspiration cytology for investigating lymphadenopathy in HIV positive patients.
The cytological diagnoses of 27 lymph node aspirates were compared with the histological diagnoses or clinical outcome in 23 HIV positive patients. There was agreement between the cytological and histological diagnoses in 14 of the 16 surgically biopsied cases. The clinical outcome in the remaining 11 cases was consistent with the cytodiagnosis.
