1. Purification and characterization of angiotensin converting enzyme-inhibitory derived from crocodile blood hydrolysates
Abstract Various enzyme types were used to hydrolyze crocodile blood peptides showing an Angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity. Alcalase hydrolysates (ALH) and Protease G6 hydrolysates (PG6H) showed the highest degree of hydrolysis (P<0.05). However, PG6H was significantly observed to have an effective ACE-inhibitory (ACE-I) activity (94.

3. Histopathology of murine toxoplasmosis under treatment with dialyzable leukocyte extract
BACKGROUND Dialyzable leukocyte extracts (DLEs) contain molecules smaller than 10 kDa with biological activity in receptor organisms. Primarily, they participate in the regulation of the Th1 immune response, which is essential for the control of several intracellular infections, such as toxoplasmosis. This disease is associated with congenital infection, en

4. Antiviral treatment for Bell's palsy (idiopathic facial paralysis)
ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Corticosteroids are widely used in the treatment of idiopathic facial paralysis (Bell's palsy), but the effectiveness of additional treatment with an antiviral agent is uncertain. Significant morbidity can be associated with severe cases of Bell's palsy.OBJECTIVES: To assess the effects of antiviral treatments alone or in combination with

5. Dieta e nutricao de crocodilianos.
A familia Crocodylidae inclui tres subfamilias: Crocodylinae, Alligatorinae e Gavialinae (Bellairs, 1987).

7. Measurement of Sr/Ca ratio in bones as a temperature indicator
The purpose of this work is to correlate Sr/Ca ratio with internal body temperature from teeth and bones. Results obtained in exploratory measurements using human, bovine and swine teeth indicated some relation between temperature and Sr/Ca ratio, but no other parameters, as feeding habits that certainly has some influence over Sr/Ca ratio, were controlled.

10. Reptilian chemistry: Characterization of dianeackerone, a secretory product from a crocodile
The major volatile component in the paracloacal glandular secretion of the adult African dwarf crocodile (Osteolaemus tetraspis) was isolated and characterized as a 19-carbon aromatic ketone, dianeackerone (3,7-diethyl-9-phenyl-2-nonanone). This ketone is absent from the secretion of immatures. Careful examination of dianeackerone samples isolated from indiv

11. Reptilian chemistry: Characterization of a family of dianeackerone-related steroidal esters from a crocodile secretion
The African dwarf crocodile, Osteolaemus tetraspis (Crocodilidae, Reptilia), possesses a pair of skin glands, the paracloacal glands, the secretion of which is thought to be used to mark nest sites or attract mates. Ten aromatic steroidal esters were isolated from this secretion and characterized on the basis of NMR spectroscopic investigations, electrospray

12. Secondary anterior crocodile shagreen of Vogt.
The clincopathological features and pathogenesis of secondary mosaic degeneration of the cornea (anterior crocodile shagreen of Vogt) are described. The structural basis for the normal anterior corneal mosaic pattern seems to lie in the particular arrangement of many prominent collagen lamellae of the anterior stroma that thake an oblique course to gain inse
