13. Corneal Ulcer Caused by the New Fungal Species Sarcopodium oculorum
We describe a case of keratitis caused by a new species of the hyphomycetous genus Sarcopodium, S. oculorum. The corneal ulcer developed after 5 months of treatment with corticosteroids in a Brazilian boy diagnosed with allergic conjunctivitis. Fungal hyphae and conidia were detected in corneal scrapings, and repeated cultures were positive for this fungus.

14. Circulating antibodies against corneal epithelium and hookworm in patients with Mooren's ulcer from Sierra Leone.
A relationship between the occurrence of Mooren's ulcer and hookworm infections was suggested by Kuriakose in 1963. Sixteen patients with clinical diagnosis of Mooren's ulcer and 15 local controls from Sierra Leone were tested with respect to serum immunoglobulin levels, circulating antibody to hookworm, circulating antibodies to corneal epithelium, stool sm

15. Enterobacter cloacae ulceration in a failed corneal graft: a case report.
A 70-year-old female developed a bacterial ulcer in a previously rejected corneal graft. Cultures identified the pathogen as Enterobacter cloacae. Intensive topical antibiotic therapy arrested the progress of the ulcer, and the epithelial defect healed in one week; there was no resultant stromal thinning. Factors which may have predisposed the cornea to ulce

16. Corneal Ulcer Caused by Nocardia asteroides in a Patient with Leprosy
Nocardia asteroides is a rare cause of keratitis usually associated with trauma. We report a case of corneal ulceration caused by N. asteroides in a patient with leprosy. This is the first case report of nocardial keratitis from Southeast Asia. The diminished corneal sensation in a patient with leprosy could be a predisposing factor for development or exacer

17. Corneal ulcer due to Achromobacter xylosoxidans.
We report a case of corneal ulcer caused by the opportunistic organism Achromobacter xylosoxidans which developed during chronic topical steroid treatment of an eye with neovascular glaucoma. A. xylosoxidans has probably been underreported as a cause of ocular infection because of confusion between this organism and other Gram-negative organisms, particularl

22. Extended-wear aphakic soft contact lenses and corneal ulcers.
A review of 100 aphakic extended-wear soft contact lenses is presented for the period July 1980 to August 1981. Four previously successfully fitted patients with either American Optical Company's Sofcon or Cooper Laboratories' Permalens for extended wear developed corneal ulcers either directly under the lenses or shortly after removal. Three of the female p

24. Antibiograms, serotypes, and plasmid profiles of Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with corneal ulcers and contact lens wear.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from the corneal scrapings of 11 of 14 patients with gram-negative corneal ulcers and from salt tablet-prepared saline solutions from 6 of these patients wearing soft contact lenses. Comparison of physiological properties, antibiograms, serotypes, and plasmid profiles for five of the patients indicated that the isolates fr
