13. Biotechnological Properties of Sponges from Northeast Brazil: Cliona varians as a Biocatalyst for Enantioselective Reduction of Carbonyl Compounds
To research the potential ability of whole marine sponges to act as biocatalysts, this paper describes for the first time the employment of whole Cliona varians sponge in the stereoselective reduction of prochiral a-keto esters and isatin to the corresponding chiral alcohols. The addition of D-fructose, D-glucose or sucrose remarkably increased the conversio

14. Ethacrynic acid decreases expression of proinflammatory intestinal wall cytokines and ameliorates gastrointestinal stasis in murine postoperative ileus
OBJECTIVES: Several compounds characterized by an olefin linkage conjugated to a carbonyl group have anti-inflammatory properties. The diuretic ethacrynic acid (EA) is a compound of this type. Herein, we tested the hypothesis that ethacrynic acid can modulate the development of ileus after bowel manipulation. METHODS: Groups (n=9) of male C57Bl/6 mice unde

15. Aroma characteristics and volatile compounds of distilled Crystal grape spirits of different alcohol concentrations: wine sprits in the Shangri-La region of China
Abstract Aroma composition is critical to the quality of distilled spirits while the alcohol concentration could have a great effect on the variety and content of aromatic substances. In order to clarify the effect of alcohol concentration on the formation of the aroma composition, volatile compounds in Crystal distilled grape spirits with different alcohol

16. Synthesis and in vitro Antiproliferative Activity of Flavone and 6-Hydroxyflavone Oxime Ethers Derivatives
Herein we report the synthesis of a series of O-alkyl oximes of flavone and 6-hydroxyflavone using a simple experimental protocol under solvent free conditions with yields up to 87%. Cytotoxicity of all compounds was evaluated against MDA-MB-231, PC-3, A-549 and MRC-5 cells. IC50 values for two compounds were determined to be in the range 28.7-47.8 µM again

17. Asymmetric bioreduction of β-ketoesters derivatives by Kluyveromyces marxianus: influence of molecular structure on the conversion and enantiomeric excess
ABSTRACT This study presents the bioreduction of six β-ketoesters by whole cells of Kluyveromyces marxianus and molecular investigation of a series of 13 β-ketoesters by hologram quantitative structure-activity relationship (HQSAR) in order to relate with conversion and enantiomeric excess of β-stereogenic-hydroxyesters obtained by the same methodology. 18. Cytotoxic diterpenoids from the roots of Salvia lachnocalyx
ABSTRACT Salvia lachnocalyx Hedge, Lamiaceae, is an endemic sage which grows naturally in the Fars Province of Iran. The phytochemical analyses of the roots of S. lachnocalyx led to the isolation of five known diterpenoids: ferruginol (1), taxodione (2), sahandinone (3), 4-dehydrosalvilimbinol (4) and labda-7,14-dien-13-ol (5). Their chemical structures were

19. ÍNDICES DE PODER ELECTROFÍLICO GLOBAL Y LOCAL PARA EL ESTUDIO TEÓRICO DE LA REACTIVIDAD QUÍMICA: APLICACIÓN A DERIVADOS CARBONILO α,β-INSATURADOS
In this study two new global descriptors for chemical reactivity are proposed, namely the electrophilic power and nucleophilic power. These have been developed by performing the normalization of the local electrophilic power and local nucleophilic power respectively, which were recently proposed elsewhere. In particular, the usefulness of both global and loc

20. Modelos estereoquímicos de adição à carbonila
The stereochemical control in the generation of new stereogenic centers is of paramount importance in organic chemistry. In this context, diastereoselective additions to carbonyl compounds bearing a stereogenic center at the α-position are of particular importance, since an increase in molecular complexity can be achieved by constructing a new bond, togethe

21. Cytotoxic activity of Androctonus australis hector venom and its toxic fractions on human lung cancer cell line
Abstract Background: Several studies have showed that animal venoms are a source of bioactive compounds that may inhibit the growth of cancer cells, which makes them useful agents for therapeutic applications. Recently, it was established that venom toxins from scorpions induced cytotoxic, antiproliferative and apoptogenic effects on cancer cells. Therefore

22. DESARROLLO DE LOS ÍNDICES DE PODER ELECTROFÍLICO Y NUCLEOFÍLICO DENTRO DEL MARCO CONCEPTUAL DE LA TEORÍA DEL FUNCIONAL DE LA DENSIDAD
In this work, the electrophilic and nucleophilic power indices were developed in the basis of canonical and grand canonical ensembles respectively, also local versions of these indices has been derived in analogy to philicity concept by Chattaraj. It can be observed that local electrophilic power and local nucleophilic power contain a third order response fu

23. Sulfites in beer: reviewing regulation, analysis and role
ABSTRACT Beer is an extremely complex mixture of more than 3,000 different compounds in an aqueous environment. Thus, it is perhaps not surprising that the maintenance of beer quality throughout its lifetime has been a considerable challenge for brewers. Whilst it is inevitable that chemical changes will occur in beer with the passage of time, it is the form

24. Synthesis and Characterization of New Diazenecarboxamide Ligands Using a Selective Adduct Formation with B(C6F5)3
The synthesis and structure of new N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-2-phenyldiazenecarboxamide (L2) and N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-2 (perfluorophenyl) diazenecarboxamide (L3) ligands are described. The subsequent reactions of ligands L1, L2 and L3 with trispentafluorophenylboron gave rise to new adducts (A1), (A2) and (A3), where B(C6F5)3 is coordinated to the carbo
