13. STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF FUNCTIONALIZATION OF CARBON NANOTUBES ON GAS SEPARATION
Abstract In order to improve the adsorption capacity and selectivity of CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2, we have functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). The functionalized MWCNT was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and BET analysis. CO2, CH4 and N2 adsor

14. Bond strength evaluation between textiles reinforced mortar with carbon nanotubes and concrete substrate
Abstract The influence of using carbon nanotubes to improve bond strength between textiles reinforced mortar and concrete was investigated. Forty-two specimens were tested using double-shear test to evaluate the effect of various parameters such as CNTs addition, type of textile material, bond length and width, and number of TRM layers on the bond behavior.

15. Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes/Poly Vinyl Chloride Nanocomposites and its Properties
ABSTRACT The SWNTs was purified/functionalized by acid treatment method and the F-SWNTs were used as reinforcing materials. The acid treatment introduced carboxyl (–COOH) group to the SWNTs. The PVC and F-SWNTs/PVC films were prepared by solution casting method. The fractured surfaces of sample was analyzed through SEM and showed the dispersion of F-SWNTs

16. Improved Functionalization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes in Ultra-Low Acid Volume: Effect of Solid/Liquid Interface
A comprehensive study of a less harmful functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was performed. The influence of ultrasonic cavitation and solid/liquid interface was indirectly evaluated by statistical characterization of MWCNT aspect ratio and degree of functionalization. MWCNT aspect ratio was determined through hundreds of electron micros

17. HYDROXYAPATITE - CARBON NANOTUBE COMPOSITES FOR DRUG DELIVERY APPLICATIONS
Abstract The aim of this study was the synthesis of composites containing hydroxyapatite (Hap) or silicon substituted hydroxyapatite (HapSi), carboxyl functionalized carbon nanotubes (fMWCNT) and gelatin (G) in different ratios. Ibuprofen (IBU) was chosen as a model drug for the formulation of extended-release dosage forms. The obtained composites were chara

18. Construction and Evaluation of a Graphene Oxide Functionalized Aminopropyltriethoxy Silane Surface Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Potentiometric Sensor for Dipyridamole Detection in Urine and Pharmaceutical Samples
A dipyridamole (DIP) based surface molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized and applied as a sensing agent in a sensing layer of a new modified potentiometric carbon paste electrode (CPE). The potentiometric modified CPEs (GO@SiO2-NH2-MIP/MWCNTs/CPE, where GO is graphene oxide and MWCNTs is multi-walled carbon nanotubes) showed an improved perform

19. Design and characterization of nanocarriers loaded with Levofloxacin for enhanced antimicrobial activity; physicochemical properties, in vitro release and oral acute toxicity
Inorganic and carbon based nanomaterials are widely used against several diseases, such as cancer, autoimmune diseases as well as fungi and bacteria colonization. In this work, Santa Barbara Amorphous mesoporous silica (SBA), Halloysite Nanotubes (HNTs) and Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) were loaded with fluoroquinolone Levofloxacin (LVF) to be applied

20. Determination of Plant Growth Regulators in Chinese Herbal Medicine: A Comparison of Liquid (QuEChERS) and Solid (MSPD) Extraction Methods
This work aimed to compare the methods for the determination of twenty plant growth regulators (PGRs) from Chinese herbal medicines by applying liquid and solid extraction methods simultaneously. Quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) and matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) were chosen as the liquid and solid extraction methods, respectiv

21. SENSOR POTENCIOMÉTRICO BASADO EN NANOPARTÍCULAS DE SULFURO DE PLATA SOPORTADAS EN MATERIALES CARBONOSOS PARA LA DETECCIÓN DE CIANURO LIBRE
Two sensors were synthesized for the detection of free cyanide (CN-), based on silver sulfide nanoparticles (Np-Ag2S) supported on Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) and hierarchical porous carbon (HPC). The Ag2S/HPC400 and Ag2S/MWCNT were characterized by physicochemical techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron mi

22. Dispersive Solid Phase Extraction Headspace Sampling in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Volatiles: Application to Separation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
For the first time, dispersive solid phase extraction combined with headspace sampling was introduced and applied to separation and pre-concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) as representative of volatile and semi-volatile compounds, from aqueous solutions and sediments using multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). After adsorption, PAHs were

Abstract Two series of polyurethane (PU) and carbon nanotubes (CNT) based composites with 0.0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mass% of CNT were obtained from diluting a commercial masterbatch with 30 mass% CNT and using two different dispersion methods. The quality of the dispersions was assessed using optical microscopy, and scanning and transmission electron microscop

24. Mechanical Behavior of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Reinforced 7075 Aluminum Alloy Composites Prepared by Mechanical Milling and Hot Extrusion
In this paper, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized by spray pyrolysis to be used later as material reinforcement in the production of MWCNTs/Al7075 aluminum composites. Both, MWCNTs and MWCNTs/Al7075 composites were microstructurally and mechanically characterized. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis shows MWCNTs formed by multiple
