1. Desenvolvimento de materiais nanocompósitos e do processo de estereolitografia laser no infravermelho (CO2) / Development of nanocomposite materials and the infrared laser stereolithography process

2. Influencia de tratamentos superficiais a laser em aços inoxidaveis utilizados em instrumentais cirurgicos / Influence of laser surface treatments on stainless steels for surgical instruments

3. The use of CO2 laser in dental caries prevention / O uso do laser de CO2 na prevenção da carie dentaria
The irradiation of dental enamel by CO2 laser, especially if combined with fluoride, increases the enamel acid resistance. Thus, this thesis, comprised by 3 manuscripts, aimed: (1) to describe the characteristics of the CO2 laser and to review the literature with regard to its effects on caries inhibition in enamel and dentin. Another aim of this review is t

5. The effects of carbon dioxide- and neodymium-YAG lasers on the central and peripheral nervous systems, and cerebral blood vessels.
The morphological reaction of brain and peripheral nerve tissue and of cerebral blood vessels to the application of two types of laser-beams is described. Lasers as cutting instruments produce smoother cut surfaces and provoke less bleeding than conventional techniques. There is almost no focal oedema. Their effects are limited to clearly determinable zones.

6. Carbon dioxide laser ablation with immediate autografting in a full-thickness porcine burn model.
OBJECTIVE: To compare the long-term clinical and histologic outcome of immediate autografting of full-thickness burn wounds ablated with a high-power continuous-wave CO2 laser to sharply débrided wounds in a porcine model. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA: Continuous-wave CO2 lasers have performed poorly as tools for burn excision because the large amount of thermal
