13. Morphometric study of immune cellular and pre-acinar axis remodeling by type V collagen induction on bronchiolite obliterans model / Estudo morfométrico da imunidade celular e remodelamento no eixo pré-acinar na indução do colágeno tipo V em um modelo de bronquiolite obliterante
A minority of patients with remodeling process of lungs following bronquiolite obliterante (BO) responds to corticosteroids. So, we sought to validate the importance of type V collagen (tVc) tolerance from immunization as option in BO model treatment. Througt of morphometric analyses, we have mensured for the dimensions, the collagen and cell infiltration de

The wheezing infant syndrome (WIS) is a frequent and high morbidity-associated condition. Its appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches depend not only on the application of the current literature concepts, but also on the knowledge of specific epidemiological characteristics of the underlying population. This was a prospective and observational stud

15. Simultaneous viral infection and childhood bronchiolitis obliterans
Lower respiratory tract infections by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are frequent in childhood. Association of RSV with bronchiolitis obliterans has rarely been established. We report a 13-month-old child with bronchiolitis obliterans following co-infection by RSV and adenovirus, and suggest that complicated evolution of an acute bronchiolitis case can in

16. Bronchiolitis obliterans organising pneumonia in patients taking acebutolol or amiodarone.
Two patients, treated with acebutolol and amiodarone respectively, developed a disease clinically, radiologically, and pathologically indistinguishable from bronchiolitis obliterans organising pneumonia. In one case recovery followed discontinuation of acebutolol; in the other case cessation of amiodarone had no effect, and corticosteroids were required. In

17. Fatal bronchiolitis obliterans associated with chrysotherapy.
We describe a patient who developed fatal bronchiolitis obliterans following gold therapy and review the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis and bronchiolitis.

18. Bronchiolitis obliterans organising pneumonia in a patient with ulcerative colitis.
A young woman with ulcerative colitis developed pneumonia, which responded to corticosteroids. Histological examination showed this to be bronchiolitis obliterans organising pneumonia.

19. Inflammatory myopathy, bronchiolitis obliterans/organizing pneumonia, and anti-Jo-1 antibodies--an interesting association.
We report an interesting association of inflammatory myopathy, characterized pathologically as dermatomyositis, with bronchiolitis obliterans/organizing pneumonia and anti-histidyl-tRNA synthetase (Jo-1) antibody. The relations of different types of pulmonary involvement to inflammatory myopathy and antisynthetase antibodies are discussed.

20. Bronchiolitis obliterans in systemic lupus erythematosus: beneficial effect of intravenous cyclophosphamide.
A 49 year old white woman with systemic lupus erythematosus and bronchiolitis obliterans was treated with prednisone (1 mg/kg daily), which led to a transitory improvement in pulmonary status. Cyclophosphamide was then added--4 mg/kg daily intravenously for five days, then 2 mg/kg daily orally--and this was followed by a dramatic and prolonged improvement.

21. Challenges in pulmonary fibrosis · 2 : Bronchiolocentric fibrosis
Bronchiolocentric fibrosis is essentially represented by the pathological pattern of constrictive fibrotic bronchiolitis obliterans. The corresponding clinical condition (obliterative bronchiolitis) is characterised by dyspnoea, airflow obstruction at lung function testing and air trapping with characteristic mosaic features on expiratory high resolution CT

22. Pulmonary effects of acute exposure to nitrous fumes
Four cases of poisoning by nitrous fumes are reported. Three patients presented with pulmonary oedema, and one of these progressed to the phase of bronchiolitis obliterans; the fourth patient presented with the clinical features of bronchiolitis obliterans. Pulmonary function studies in both phases showed a predominantly restrictive pattern of ventilatory ab
