1. Brane resolution em conifold com torÃÃo. / Brane resolution in torsional conifolds

2. Vacuum energies and multipole interactions
In this paper, we present a quantum-field-theoretical description of the interaction between stationary and localized external sources linearly coupled to bosonic fields (specifically, we study models with a scalar and the Maxwell field). We consider external sources that simulate not only point charges but also higher-multipole distributions along D-dimensi

3. Pea seed pre hydration and its interference with the evaluation of the physiological potential / Pré-hidratação de sementes de ervilha e sua interferência na avaliação do potencial fisiológico
The present work had the objective of to study biochemical and physiological alterations in function of pea seed pre hydration with e phasis in the electrolyte leakage and in the expression of different isoenzymatic systems, trying to contribute for the i provement of the pre hydration methods of seeds to be submitted to tests for evaluation of its physiologi

4. "Branas em supergravidade" / Branes in supergravity
This work intends to review the brane solutions of supergravity and contains a datailed deduction of the extremal and black solutions. In order to provide some motivations to the choices through the calculation, this work includes a brief review of some concepts from string theory and supersymmetry. This review will enable us to relate the supergravity solut

5. Fluxes and chern morphisms of hyperbolic orbifolds
Methods of K-theory and spectral theory of Dirac operators are applied to describe the Chern isomorphisms and quantum fields on branes on hyperbolic manifolds.

6. Inflationary cosmology in RS-I
In this work, I intend to show a possible candidate of inflaton potential V(phi) in a scenario of a brane world defined by a pair of branes (RS-I).

7. Gap junctions in cells of the immune system: structure, regulation and possible functional roles
Gap junction channels are sites of cytoplasmic communication between contacting cells. In vertebrates, they consist of protein subunits denoted connexins (Cxs) which are encoded by a gene family. According to their Cx composition, gap junction channels show different gating and permeability properties that define which ions and small molecules permeate them.

8. Lipopolysaccharide core mutants of Salmonella typhimurium containing D-glycero-D-manno-heptose.
Mutants resistant to several hydrophobic membrane antagonists were isolated from a "deep rough" (rfaC) mutant of Salmonella typhimurium. The resistance was due to an alteration in the core region lipopolysaccharide composition as evidenced by altered bacteriophage and complement sensitivity and by compositional analysis. The principal change in carbohydrate

9. Hydrophobic peptide auxotrophy in Salmonella typhimurium.
The growth of a pleiotropic membrane mutant of Salmonella typhimurium with modified lipopolysaccharide composition was found to be strictly dependent on the peptone component of complex media. Nutritional Shiftdown into minimal media allowed growth for three to four generations. Of 20 commercial peptones, only enzymatic digests supported growth to varying de

10. Limited surface exposure of Borrelia burgdorferi outer surface lipoproteins.
We used novel immunofluorescence strategies to demonstrate that outer surface proteins (Osps) A, B and C of Borrelia burgdorferi have limited surface exposure, finding that contradicts the prevailing viewpoint that these antigens are exclusively surface exposed. Light labeling was observed when antibodies to OspA or OspB were added to motile organisms, where
