1. Substrates for seedlings with sewage sludge and biochar
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate substrates formulated with proportions of sewage sludge (SS)-solarized and SS-biochar in the production of seedlings of two indicator crops: lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and black wattle (Acacia decurrens Wild). The study was composed of two experiments conducted in greenhouse, in randomized block designs.

3. SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND in vitro CYTOTOXICITY OF Acacia mearnsii PROANTHOCYANIDIN LOADED PLGA MICROPARTICLES
ABSTRACT One of the highlighted areas in the development of new materials is the generation of micro- and nanoparticles as drug carriers which allow the progress in formulations with the ability to release active agents in a controlled way. The proanthocyanidins (PAC) extracted from the bark of the Black Wattle have stood out for their biological activities.

5. Additivity of tree biomass components using ratio estimate
Abstract: This study deals with the subject biomass estimation. The objective was to achieve the additivity of tree biomass components, which is defined as the compatibility among the component predictions and total tree biomass, using ratio estimates. The biomass estimation model was applied to black wattle trees in forest stands, which include a sample of

6. Additive and Non-additive Biomass Equations for Black Wattle

7. Intumescent Coatings Based on Tannins for Fire Protection
Accidents involving fire occur every day around the world, affecting thousands of people and causing economic losses. Some accidents are caused by steel structure failures, which experience a significant reduction in mechanical properties at temperatures of 400-550˚C. Therefore, fire protective coatings are required for steel structures and interest in the

8. Soil Macrofauna as Indicator of Environmental Recovery in a Mining Area
ABSTRACT This work aimed to characterize the composition of the soil macrofauna in non-mined and mined areas recovered with native vegetation, Eucalyptus dunnii Maiden and Acacia mearnsii De Wild. plantations, in a coal mine. Five areas were evaluated, namely, three non-mined areas and two mined and recovered areas. Six soil samples per area were collected

9. Using Magnetized (Fe3O4 / Biochar Nanocomposites) and Activated Biochar as Adsorbents to Remove Two Neuro-Active Pesticides from Waters
This work describes the removal of pesticides from water using activated and magnetized biochars produced from exhausted husk, and dry tannin from barks of black wattle (Acacia mearnsii De Wild.). These materials were characterized using chemical, spectroscopic, thermal, solid structure and surface area techniques. The activated and magnetized biochars were

10. Principal Component Analysis of Commercial Tannin Extracts Using Digital Images on Mobile Devices
Tannins from trees are an abundant renewable resource. The use of tannins is safe for the environment and human health, making it possible to develop environmentally friendly products, such as adhesives, flocculant agents for water treatment, flame retardant foams and anticorrosives. In this study, a methodology was developed for the identification of six co

11. PYROLIGNEOUS LIQUOR PRODUCED FROM ACACIA MEARNSII DE WILD WOOD UNDER CONTROLLED CONDITIONS AS A RENEWABLE SOURCE OF CHEMICALS
Acacia mearnsii de Wild (black wattle) is one of the most important trees planted in Southern Brazil for tannin extraction and charcoal production. The pyrolysis of the black wattle wood used for obtaining charcoal is performed in brick ovens, with the gas fraction being sent directly into the environment. The present study examines the condensable compounds
