13. An overview on pollination of the Neotropical Poales
Abstract Current phylogenetic hypotheses support that ancestral Poales were animal-pollinated and that subsequent shifts to wind pollination have occurred. Ten of the 16 Poales families are widely distributed in the Neotropics, however a comprehensive understanding of their pollination systems' diversity is still lacking. Here we surveyed studies on pollinat

14. Fruit set of distylous Psychotria carthagenensis Jacq. (Rubiaceae) mediated by Apis mellifera (Apidae) and species of Augochloropsis (Halictidae)
Heterostyly is a floral polymorphism consisting in the presence of two morphs in the population that differ reciprocally in the position of their sexual organs. Heterostylous species depend on visitors to produce fruits, but the efficiency of insect species as pollinators greatly varies and depends on the morph visited. The aim of the present study was to de

15. Pollen types used by Centris (Hemisiella) tarsata Smith (1874) (Hymenoptera, Apidae) in the provisioning of brood cells in an area of Caatinga
The aim of this study was to identify, by sediment pollen analysis, the plant species used as floral resources for the provisioning of brood cells in Centris (Hemisiella) tarsata, in an area of Caatinga, within the municipality of Nova Soure, Bahia State, Brazil. The analysis of pollen contents from three brood cells revealed 11 pollen types, corresponding t

16. Use of bee-attractants in increasing crop productivity in Niger (Guizotia abyssinica. L)
The use of bee attractants, Bee-Q and Fruit BoostTM in the pollination of niger was evaluated. Bee visitations to niger flowers were observed for two weeks and an estimation of seed yield was determined. Different concentrations of Bee-Q and Fruit boostTM were evaluated to understand honeybee visitation patterns on the target crop and pollination efficiency.

O objetivo deste trabalh

18. USO DA ABELHA MELÃFERA (Apis mellifera L.) NA POLINIZAÃÃO E AUMENTO DE PRODUTIVIDADE DE GRÃOS EM VARIEDADE DE SOJA (Glycine max. (L.) Merril.) ADAPTADA ÃS CONDIÃÃES CLIMÃTICAS DO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO / Use of honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) in the pollination and the gain in productivity of grains in variety of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merril.)adapted to Brazilian Northeastern climatic conditions
The research was carried out between July and December 2009 using tropical soya bean (Glycine max (L.) Merril) cultivars irrigated by center pivots in the irrigation district of Jaguaribe-Apodi, belonging to the agribusiness Faedo Sementes situated at the Apodi plateau, Limoeiro do Norte, CearÃ, Brazil. The study aimed to investigate the use of Apis mellife

19. A ABELHA MELÃFERA AFRICANIZADA (Apis mellifera L.) NA POLINIZAÃÃO E PRODUÃÃO DE ÃLEO DAS SEMENTES DO PINHÃO MANSO (Jatropha curcas L.) / THE AFRICANIZED HONEY BEE (Apis mellifera L.) FOR POLLINATION AND SEED OIL PRODUCTION IN Jatropha curcas (L.)
O trabalho

20. Abelhas visitantes florais, potenciais polinizadoras do algodoeiro (Gossypium hirsutum L.) em cultivo agroecolÃgico / Bees floral visitors, potential pollinators of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) in agro-ecological farming
This study was conducted in July 2010 in the town of ChorÃ- CE, to evaluate the bees visiting the flowers of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. cv. CNPA - 7MH) in two agroecological crops. To do so, assessed the diversity of insects in two areas, their frequency, foraging behavior and potential pollinators of the culture, and studied the floral biology and polli

21. Nidificação de abelhas e vespas solitárias e biologia reprodutiva de Megachile dentipes Vachal (Hymenoptera, Megachilidae) em ninhos-armadilha
Terrestrial ecosystems, solitary bees and wasps play important roles as pollinators, predators and parasites. Most part of the life of these Hymenoptera is designed to aspects related to nesting, including the search of the nest site, nest construction and food collection to rear the larvae. However, in natural environments the nests of these insects are dif

22. Honey bee visitation to sunflower: effects on pollination and plant genotype
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an allogamic plant, which needs insects on flowering, especially the honeybees for seed production. Collecting nectar and pollen by honeybees in agricultural crops is essential to apiculture, as well as a better understanding of plant biology. The foraging behavior of Africanized Apis mellifera L. (Hymenoptera, Apidae) and

The research was carried out from November of 2009 to January of 2010, in the Apodi plateau, situated in the county of Limoeiro do Norte, state of CearÃ. It was used 32 cajazeira trees (Spondias mombim L.) of the Lagoa Redonda cloning tree, grafted on the umbuzeiro tree (Spondias tuberose A.). 24. Contrasting bee pollination in two co-occurring distylic species of Cordia (Cordiaceae, Boraginales) in the Brazilian semi-arid Caatinga: generalist in C. globosa vs. specialist in C. leucocephala
