1. Automatic calibration of a large-scale sediment model using suspended sediment concentration, water quality, and remote sensing data

2. Simulation of Flow in the Capim River (PA) using the SWAT Model
ABSTRACT Flow in the Capim River watershed, located in the state of Pará, Brazil, was estimated using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model in order to determine its use efficiency. The meteorological data (from 2000 to 2010) were collected from an automatic station located in the municipality of Paragominas. The pluviometric and fluviometric dat

3. Tipping Bucket Prototype for Automatic Quantification of Surface Runoff Rate in Plots
ABSTRACT: Quantification of runoff rate is an onerous task with non-automated devices; it requires a lot of manual labor to perform measurements. In this study, an automatic device to quantify the surface runoff rate from plots with a small area was developed and tested. The prototype was based on the tipping bucket technique and built with reused materials.

4. Use of an Automatic System in the Preparation of Gas Mixtures for Multivariate Calibration: A Case Study Involving NIR Analysis of Natural Gas
This paper investigates the use of an automatic system for preparation of gas mixtures in a multivariate calibration problem involving near-infrared (NIR) spectrometric analysis of natural gas. The automatic system is used to prepare calibration mixtures according to a Brereton experimental design, in order to exploit a suitable range of gas concentrations a

5. Automatic pain quantification using autonomic parameters
The objective measurement of subjective, multi-dimensionally experienced pain is a problem for which there has not been an adequate solution. Although verbal methods (e.g., pain scales and questionnaires) are commonly used to measure clinical pain, they tend to lack objectivity, reliability, or validity when applied to mentally impaired individuals. 6. An automatic methodology for obtaining optimum shape factors for the radial point interpolation method
In this letter, a methodology is proposed for automatically (and locally) obtaining the shape factor c for the Gaussian basis functions, for each support domain, in order to increase numerical precision and mainly to avoid matrix inversion impossibilities. The concept of calibration function is introduced, which is used for obtaining c. The methodology devel

7. Experimental results from the sounding vehicle Sonda III test campaign in the Pilot Transonic Wind Tunnel
Abstract: The Pilot Transonic Wind Tunnel of the Institute of Aeronautics and Space has conducted the first test campaign of a sounding vehicle, Sonda III. The campaign is part of a project whose activities and final results are presented in this paper. During the test campaign, many activities were performed to increase the productivity and accuracy of the

8. WARPING-BASED METHODOLOGY TO CORRECT DISTORTION IN ENDOSCOPY SYSTEMS / METODOLOGIA BASEADA EM WARPING PARA CORREÇÃO DE DISTORÇÕES EM SISTEMAS DE ENDOSCOPIA
Images captured in endoscopy examinations show some distortion, the radial is the most visible. The radial distortion appears in images due to lens used in endoscopes. When a doctor or researcher is analyzing a distorted image, he can not see the exact size of an organ, tumor or lesion, due the magnification in the center of the image and a contraction in th

9. Flow-batch analyser for preparation of calibration standard mixtures in simultaneous multicomponent spectrometric analysis
The application of multivariate calibration techniques to multicomponent analysis by UV-VIS molecular absorption spectrometry is a powerful tool for simultaneous determination of several chemical species. However, when this methodology is accomplished manually, it is slow and laborious, consumes high amounts of reagents and samples, is susceptible to contami
