1. ELABORAÇÃO E USO DE ANIMAÇÕES COMO ESTRATÉGIA PARA O ENSINO DE MECANISMOS DAS REAÇÕES ORGÂNICAS
The Chemistry of organic compounds is present in many aspects of life on the planet. In addition to many substances in our body being organic compounds, the energy matrix is based on burning fossil fuels, the biodiesel industry is also linked to organic reactions as well as the pharmaceutical industry. However, Organic Reaction Mechanisms is considered one o

2. Atomic force microscopy evidences of bacterial cell damage caused by propolis extracts on E. coli and S. aureus
Abstract The interaction of the aqueous extract of green propolis with the bacterial envelope was investigated using atomic force microscopy on E. coli and S. aureus, as Gram-negative and Gram-positive model microorganisms. The bacteria were incubated in the extracts with variable proportions of water/ethanol, i.e., in different concentrations of total pheno

4. ERROR BEHAVIOR OF ATOMIC CLOCKS ABOARD GPS SATELLITES
Abstract: The signal transmission and position quality obtained by GNSS positioning directly depends on the time control. The atomic clocks aboard the satellites are responsible for this control. In this research, the satellites clock errors of GPS are studied, using data from the pseudorange, the satellite semi-major axis and the correction parameters of th

5. Compatibility of GROMOS-Derived Atomic Parameters for Lipopolysaccharide Membranes with the SPC/E Water Model and Alternative Long-Range Electrostatic Treatments Using Single Nonbonded Cutoff and Atom-Based Charge Schemes
Recent developments of GROMACS v.2016 ceased to support methodological approaches used in the development and validation of the GROMOS force field. We investigated the performance of a previously developed extension of the GROMOS force field for lipopolysaccharides to reproduce the structural dynamics of bacterial outer membrane (OM) using a single cutoff fo

7. Chemosensor Development of Cu2+ Recognition Using 1,5-Diphenylthiocarbazone: Optimization, COSMO-RS and DFT Studies
The sensitive and selective chemosensor for copper(II) ions (Cu2+) was successfully optimized using the 1,5-diphenylthiocarbazone (DPT) compound. The result showed that dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) in a 9:1 (DMSO:water) ratio at a pH of 3 was the optimum medium for DPT to act as chemosensor of Cu2+ recognition. The DPT chemosensor did not encounter any interfer

8. HYBRID ATOMIC ORBITALS IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. PART 1: CRITIQUE OF FORMAL ASPECTS
The importance of hybrid atomic orbitals, both historically and mathematically, is reviewed. Our new analysis of the original derivation of the sp3, sp2, sp model reveals serious errors. Based on a critical survey of the literature, we submit six formal criteria that deprecate the use of hybrid orbitals in a pedagogical context. A sound mathematical basis of

9. HYBRID ATOMIC ORBITALS IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. PART 2: CRITIQUE OF PRACTICAL ASPECTS
The importance of hybrid atomic orbitals, in both general and organic chemistry, is reviewed. Every contemporary textbook of organic chemistry introduces the directed-valence (e.g. sp3, sp2, sp) model, but the suitability of these hybrid orbitals for use in the teaching of molecular structure has been increasingly questioned. Based on a critical survey of th

10. Surface morphologic evaluation of orthodontic bonding systems under conditions of cariogenic challenge
Abstract: Orthodontic bonding systems are submitted to demineralization and remineralization dynamics that might compromise their surface smoothness, and favor biofilm aggregation and caries development. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of a cariogenic challenge model (in vitro pH-cycling model) on the surface roughness and topography
