25. Comportamento assintótico de sistemas não lineares discretos / Asymptotic behavior of non lineal discrete systems
Firstly, in this work, we present a study of part of two works by J. P. LaSalle, concerning with asymptotic behavior of discrete systems. Secondly, we study the dynamics of a discrete system that depends on a parameter l in L, of the form x(n+1) = f(x(n), l). As part of this general purpose, we develop tecniques to obtain uniform estimates (with respect to t

26. O efeito de reparametrização em testes de sobrevivência acelerados
Accelerated life tests are frequently used in industrial experiments to obtain measures on the reliability of products. In these tests, the units are submited at higher levels of stress than usual and the informations obtained are utilized to inference on the reliability of the product, under normal operating conditions. A practical problem, refers to the ac

27. TECHNIQUE OF LAUNCHING OF RAYS IN THREE DIMENSIONS FOR THE PREVISÃO DE COBERTURA IN MICRO-CELULARES ENVIRONMENTS / TÉCNICA DE LANÇAMENTO DE RAIOS EM TRÊS DIMENSÕES PARA A PREVISÃO DE COBERTURA EM AMBIENTES MICRO-CELULARES

In this work, we study the existence of least energy solutions and phenomenon of concentration for the following Neumann perturbated Quasilinear problem where is the p-Laplacian operator, ? is a positive parameter, 1

29. Teoria da seção de Bogomolny para o estadio
The quarter-stadium can be decomposed into a rectangle and a quarter-circle; in each of these regions the Helmholtz equation is separable. We thus explicitly construct Green functions for both regions and a fully quantum mechanical Bogomolny finite matrix including real and evanescent waves is built. The eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions calculated with ext

30. Cordas cosmicas e vortices em relatividade geral : pertubações radiais de soluções estaticas e estacionarias
A linearized theory of the dynamics of small perturbations of certain cylindrically symmetric systems in general relativity is presented. Firstly, we deal with straight, static cosmic strings of finite thickness in the U(l) gauge theory coupled to the Einstein equations. Taking into account the asymptotic behavior of the solution and certain integral ide

31. Asymptotic form for random walk survival probabilities on three-dimensional lattices with traps
The problem of calculating statistics of time-to-trapping of a random walker on a trap-filled lattice is of interest in solid state physics. Several authors have suggested approximate methods for calculating the average survival probabilities. Here, an exact asymptotic form for the probability that an n step random walk visits Sn distinct sites is used to as

32. Efficiency of single-nucleotide polymorphism haplotype estimation from pooled DNA
The efficiency of single-nucleotide polymorphism haplotype analysis may be increased by DNA pooling, which can dramatically reduce the number of genotyping assays. We develop a method for obtaining maximum likelihood estimates of haplotype frequencies for different pool sizes, assess the accuracy of these estimates, and show that pooling DNA samples is e

33. Pulse-wave propagation in an artery with leakage into small side branches.
Linear pulse propagation theory is applied to a network of elastic tubes. The network is specialized to one having a main branch with many low-admittance side branches. Continuum approximations and an asymptotic analysis of side-branch network input admittance reduce the original network to a tapered leaky tube. The outflow law is equivalent to distributed W

34. Theoretical calculation methods for kinesin in fast axonal transport.
The method of making Monte Carlo calculations of the velocity of fast axonal transport is described and applied in a relatively simple case. These illustrative calculations are supplemented by a differential equation solution of the same problem, valid as an asymptotic limit. The latter treatment is closely related to the theory of muscle contraction.

35. Using a parity-sensitive sieve to count prime values of a polynomial
It is expected that any irreducible polynomial with integer coefficients assumes infinitely many prime values provided that it satisfies some obvious local conditions. Moreover, it is expected that the frequency of these primes obeys a simple asymptotic law. This has however been proven for only a few special classes of polynomials. In the most famous u

36. Estimation of Linkage in the Presence of Multiplicative Viability Effects
Log-linear analysis of contingency tables is applied to trihybrid backcross data to estimate linkage and viability. Whereas nonadditive viability differences perturb recombination estimates in the classical analysis, this statistical procedure yields maximum likelihood crossover frequency estimates in the presence of multiplicative viability effects.
