RESUMO

This study deals with web art, an artistic modality that interacts with the concepts of art and digital technologies of network communication, focusing on the reconfiguration of the role of receiver/user in the development of relationships between artist, work and audience. The general aim is to investigate the reception process of the web dance work 96 Détails, created by Cia. Mulleras, as an attempt to understand how the participation of the user in this process takes place. To reach such objective, the following dimensions, which are part of this communicational and artistic process, are theoretically and methodologically discussed: the work, the artist(s) and the receiver, which is referred to as user. The theoretical background was comprised of Art and Communication concepts, aiming to adequate them to the understanding of aspects required by the problem, related to the hybrid universe of web art and, more specifically, web dance and its reception. Interactivity, in such context, was thought of as the specificity that enables an explicit and concrete result of the receivers interpretation, reconfiguring the reception process of this product. The methodological strategies were designed taking into consideration the object specificities and the scopes of the process being studied. They include document analysis to clarify aspects regarding production; observation of a corpus of the work 96 Détails to explain aspects relative to product and experimentation and interviews with a sample of users, with different domains of artistic and technological competences in the reception context. Results of the study show that reconfiguration of the artistic-communicational relationships is due to, among other factors, the specificities of the environment in which web art is installed. In such place, art tends to come closer to the audience and motivates its interference and participation in the work, creating a pathway for the existence of co-author activity.
