RESUMO

It is known by Carlini (2003), that the Physical Education Professional knows nothing about or knows very little about one of his most important working tools: the voice. These facts led me to think about the training process of these professionals. Considering that the voice is an important work tool, the following question may be asked: why is there this lack of knowledge? And, further still, why doesn t this category acquire this knowledge in the moment that he/she is graduating, in his/her professional training? Purpose: to investigate a speech therapy intervention as from a vocal program for Physical Education students. Methods: the research was carried out in a college of Physical Education, in the city of Guarulhos. The program was entitled: "Professional Use of the Voice: Communication as a Differential" and contained three encounters of four hours each, with the participation of six enrolled. As a subsidy so that the intervention was thought as a means to comprise the students from the listening to the advice of the researcher as well as to the different components of the group, three questionnaires were used (one before the program, one right after its termination and one two months after its termination), as well as the written entry that was produced by the researcher after each encounter. The themes discussed were based on subjects related to adequate vocal production and vocal cares and contemplated the professional context of the referred category. The analysis of the intervention was made in a qualitative manner. Results: the program took place in the way it had been planned, and the six enrolled participated actively in the activities. After the moment of presentations, all the proposals were accepted and accomplished together, always in a process of discovery. The voice began to inhabit the reality of the participants that, during the three weeks of the program, brought me feed-back and doubts. It is worth mentioning that only three of them actually worked in the ares, but that all of them, in a general way, linked the offered practice to extra-curricular activities. The proposals that contextualized the category of Physical Education were thought by the participants as something that would occur imminently, and none of the activities were repelled at any time. Final Considerations: the importance of interventions is evident, even more so when it offers attributes to the participants so that the finalist may become his/her own transforming agent of necessary changes. We notice the importance of a joint action with the category of Physical Education and knowing of the differences between graduate studies and the professional reality, we may conclude that the process of formation is a good moment for there to be such an intervention. With relation to this study, we may conclude that the experience was worth while so that we may further think future actions with the category
