RESUMO

This thesis aims to analyze the novel As virtudes da casa of writer Gaucho Luiz Antonio de Assis Brazil, listing its theme with the tragic work Agamêmnon of Ésquilo. The tragic effect is noticeable in the narrative, although the work studied is not a tragedy but a tragic romance with components, as if objectively demonstrate. Note that in the work of Assis Brazil the main character is a woman, Micaela, which breaks with the current diegéticos standards to perform their intimate desires and their passions. As demand is shown, this break animates the tragic components of plot.
