RESUMO

This thesis is a written actualization of the stages of research, artistic creation process, and installation of Vestígios, as well as its subsequent public presentations. A work created at the intersection between the languages of dance, of video installation and of performance. Vestígios resulted from a research and creative experience developed over more than three years at the sambaquis, pre-historic indigenous cemeteries located in the Laguna region of Santa Catarina state, emphasizing their spatio-temporal, monumental, and sacred aspects. An experience that occurred through long-lasting physical immersions carried out in this environment, and from its effects on my bodily imagination. The thesis starts from the idea that if we make ourselves vulnerable to the affects of the worlds forces on our bodies and, above all, to the sensations of its tense paradoxical relationship with the perceptions of its forms, we find our ancestral pre-colonial memory, impregnated in the materiality of things in this case, in the sambaquis and their signs. Inhabiting this paradox is what triggers the creative drive, which will manifest such sensations in the work, in order to make them sensitive. This is what makes the artistic proposal a carrier of a power for contagion of the spectators subjectivity. The idea that motivates such a proposal is that of to assume this creation strategy in the exercise of thought, whether artistic or theoretical, is not only an aesthetic gesture, but also ethical, political, and clinical. Such a strategy was buried by the colonial and slavery regimes, upon which dictatorships were then overlaid, and, more recently, neo-liberal operations as well. Recent research concludes that the sambaqui signs relative to the way of life of the surrounding inhabitants have been lost through time. Thus, Vestígios is a poetic attempt to actualize in an artistic and academic work, that which I was able to be apprehended and activated throughout my investigative immersions
