Verificação do grau de conhecimento de cirurgiões-dentistas sobre os aspectos eticos e legais dos insucessos e contra indicações de implantes osseointegrados

RESUMO

Osseointegrated implants and prostheses installed on them have been used in substitution of lost teeth. The index of success in Implantodonty has increased with the discovery of the osseointegration by Professor Branemark, and since then, some systems and implants brands have been developed. However, the lack of observation by Dental Surgeons who work in this area, the technological advances, the accurate election of patients, the considered criteria of the evaluation of success, the technical knowledges, the odontological documentation elaboration and the hard relationship between the doctor and the patient, have caused an increase occurrence of legal processes. This study showed the knowledge of the ethical and legal aspects of the success and unsuccessfulness of osseointegrated implants, as weel as the ocurrence of legal processes and professionalpatients constraints of dental Surgeons who works in the area of implantodonty in the City of São Jose do Rio Preto-SP, 100 surveys distributed in a alleatory way were evaluated. Datas obtained were joined according to classificatory variables and according to qualification and of individuals that makes implants and/or prostheses on implants. It was also found information about the occurence of legal processes obtaining as a result (5 legal processes); constraint in professional-patient clinical activities (59 constraints). The processing of the datas was made through statistical analysis including Chi-Square Test and Fisher´s Exact test. The final results demonstrated that 69 percent of the answers were correct about technical-scientific knowledge on implants but only 29,16 percent were able to make the correct execution of the items of the odontological documentation which indicates a significant lack of familiarity on the subject. But we have to considerate that the 12 correct execution of the items of the odontological documentation are in a association with the sample´s knowledge on the precepts of the DCD (Law 8078/90), p=0,0001. Which is concluded through the analysis of the data that Dental Surgeons are not well-prepared when it comes to technical-scientific knowledge in Implantodonty and much still less when it comes to Deontological and Diceological topics in their professional activities, and that there is the necessity of the establishment of continuing education courses in Implantodonty and prevention of lawsuits must be emphasized.
