Valores pessoais e valores do trabalho : um estudo com estudantes de enfermagem

RESUMO

The basic theory used for the orientation of this work was that of Schwartz regarding the types of motivacional of human values, from which other theories emerge, all seeking to explain the diverse areas of behavior such as those relating to work. From the theorizing of Ros and Graci, who established correlations between areas of reference and the study conducted by Porto and Tamayo who developed the Scale of Work Values, it is possible to understand phenomena related to personal and work-related axiological priorities. This research described personal and work values in a sample of university nursing students of a private facility and another in a public university. The general objective was to compare the types of personal and work values operative among nursing students of a privative school in the territory around the Federal District of Brazil. The specific objectives were: a) to verify the type of correlation existing between the personal and work values of nursing students; b) to compare the types of priorities or preferences proper to nursing students in a university in the vicinity of the Federal District. The final sample was made up of 101 participants, who were compared with another 64 proceeding from the above-mentioned secondary research. The instruments used in the study were a Portrait Questionaire (PQ) and a Scale of Work Values (EVT = Escala de Valores de Trabajo). The results reveal an equal hierarchy for work values, there was congruence between the samples in the establishment of axiological priorities for three of the ten steps of the scale. The scores were higher for the dimension of self-transcendence and lower for self-promotion. The studies relating to the correlation between work values and personal values produced confirmation in only one bipolar dimension: self-transcendence versus self-promotion and their correlatives. The work concluded that demographic variables can bring about great differences with respect to the axiological priorities of similar professional groups.
