RESUMO

The effect of 4 controlled atmospheres (3% O2 and CO2, 3% O2 and 6 or 8% CO2, and 5% O2 and 8% CO2) and 2 ambient atmosphere conditions (70 and 90% relative humidity) for 20 or 25 days in addition to 5 days of ambient atmosphere at 10degreesC on papaya cv. Golden storage was evaluated. After 4 days at 22degreesC, the highest total soluble solids content and ratio were observed in fruits stored under 3% O2 and 6% CO2 for 20 days.
