RESUMO

The present work evaluated the tools emergy analysis and geographical information systems (GIS) for analysis of agricultural systems that adopt different models of production. They had been chosen, as study area, three small agricultural properties located in the city of Amparo, state of São Paulo. One of them uses agroecology concepts of production (Duas Cachoeiras farm), while the others two (Santa Helena farm and Três Lagos farm) produce conventionally. The following studies had been become fullfilled: (1) Calculation of the soil loss for the three properties through the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) with aid of the GIS ArcGIS. (2) Emergy Analyses of each property, considering the year of 2003 as period of study. The indices later had been compared to analyze which property are more sustainable, using little resources of the economy and possessing bigger ecossistemic efficiency. Beyond the emergy indices, the economic yield was calculated, with and without negative externalities, and related social indices to the labor; (3) Spatial evaluation of the ecological transformation of the Duas Cachoeiras farm, that in 1985, left to use conventional techniques changedding itself into a agroecology system. For this, maps of use of the soil simultaneously with emergy analyses for the years of 1980, 1990 and 2003 had been confectioned; (4) Emergy analysis for the pasture (wool production), forest, annual crops and orchard areas of the Duas Cachoeiras farm for the year of 2003. This study in made possible the comparison "in situ" on which area of the property is more sustainable, besides serving as subsidy for future works in bigger areas, as hydric basins; (5) Calculation of the infiltration capacity of the water of rain for the agroecology system (Duas Cachoeiras farm), to show the importance that these systems possess in the water production that feeds underground sheets. The main conclusions of the work are: (a) For the small analyzed properties, the best economic, social and environment relation cost/benefit meets in the system that adopts the model of agroecology agriculture; (b) The use of combined emergy analysis with geographical information systems, presents a great potential to develop tools of administration, public how much in such a way private, to plan the sustainable development as considered for Agenda 21.
